John Bell Painting

John and his team were professional, skilled painters who completed the exterior painting of our 100 year old 3 story house in a timely fashion in spite of bad weather interruptions. They were very knowledgeable about the kinds of paint and stain to be used and matched colours with great accuracy.
I would highly recommend this team.

We are as pleased as one can possibly be with the recent painting in our home (really tricky stuff in parts) not just with Andre (the painter in question) as a person but his fantastic painting and in particular the job he did for us in our home.

This is not the over-the-top commentary it may seem. He is an extremely hard worker who possesses great painting skill in a tricky and difficult house to paint or decorate.

The work is flawless, was complete in a remarkably quick timeframe without any fuss nor muss - not a drop anywhere and the finished product has literally transformed that half of our house - the rest was transformed in a previous ‘movie’ when Andre first came here 15 years ago. He did our work for us when we lived in Toronto and had done it here in Peterborough twice.

It should also be clear that this is a person you don’t mind in your house at anytime. He is a pleasure to be with and has a wry sense of humour.

He is also utterly trustworthy and we are happy when he can make the trip and stay over. We give him a set of keys, and have done so 2 times previously and we don’t have to be concerned with security of the house - he treats it as his own and as he would want to be treated.

This time 2 different types of paint made the job trickier and they were applied meticulously and he inspected the work carefully when he was done, was fast and neat in cleaning up afterwards.

We cannot say enough good things about the man himself and his work.

It bears repeating that we would use John Bell Painting and Andre again in a heartbeat. Fine organization and excellent quality work.

I have used John Bell Painting 5 or 6 times over the past 11 years, big and small jobs, interior and exterior. The painting teams are always fantastic, friendly, efficient, tidy, they go out of their way to make it as painless a process as possible. I cannot say enough good things about the painters, John, the office team, etc. John Bell is my only call when I have a painting need.

John is wonderful and spent a great deal of time inspecting the house to ensure his quote was accurate. The crew did a good job and did not hesitate to start over when the stain did not come out the right colour the first time around on our shed (they had to re-sand the whole thing and start over). Some minor damage occurred to an outdoor table during the painting process. John was extremely professional and did not hesitate to compensate us for the minor damage - accidents happen but it was John's professional response that was really appreciated.

We have used John Bell for all our painting over the past 10 years. Every job has been done in a professional manner with excellent workmanship. Each crew has been very polite and a pleasure to have in our home. We highly recommend this company and will continue to use them as the years go by.

Excellent workmanship, efficient, very tidy. We are 100% satisfied with their work. They painted the interior of my entire home in the past and it was challenging because the 2nd storey required scaffolding. They did a fantastic job. Now, I regularly have them back to re-paint a room when I am redecorating it. They are reliable, trustworthy and professional. Highly recommended.

Exterior painting.
John (the business owner) came to look at the work, we went through the work to do.
I asked if they can paint an electrical stub column and metal conduit --No problem !-- he answered.
They sent us an experienced painter: Andre.
I was very much impressed.
He was taking time, and did excellent work.
Clean the surfaces, gave primer where it is necessary, and carefully painted for each item.
Back yard facing ravine, there are two large picture windows with double hung both sides.
He found a wasp's nest at the top corner of a window, high up. He had to come back with spray.
His workmanship is superb.
He said he did paint a vent stuck (which was not in the contract).
He left with excellent paint job and a can of left over blue paint: that is our special theme of this house.
I appreciate this company's work very much.

I hired johns company to paint the exterior of my home. The painters were fantastic and very hard working. They came bright and early and painted all day, rarely stopping to take a break. They listened to my requests carefully and did exactly what I asked. The house looks amazing and Like new, considering it's 105 years old! They even painted my muskoka chairs to match my door. I am so thrilled with the result.

The John was quick to respond with an estimate. He quickly identified the problem and provided a solution. The work was scheduled promptly and to our satisfaction. The painters (Vandes and Mike) arrived on time. Both were excellent and very professional. The work was done in a day and to our satisfaction. Both Laurie and Lisa were excellent and most helpful. I would highly recommend the company and would not hesitate to call them again. Thanks for a job well done.

The neighbour to our semi-detached house had a plumbing leak, and water escaped into our house and damaged the ceilings and walls on two floors. We called a couple of contractors for quotes on the repair and painting required, and chose John Bell. They certainly charged a premium price, which we were willing to pay because we expected a premium job-- but it didn't quite work out that way. The two painters they sent appeared to be sub-contractors, rather than employees, so their intent was to get in and get out as fast as they could. The painting was excellent, their clean-up pretty good, but the repair was not at all up to a professional standard. The ceiling in one area, where the damage had been the worst, was left with minor but visible undulations. I objected about this to the painter, but he defended it, so rather than have a confrontation, I simply said I would see what Mr. Bell himself would say about it. I expected he would check in with me following the job to ensure everything was satisfactory, and I could take it up with him then. Alas, no follow-up call. Once they got their money they were gone. Then a few days later I discovered they had even missed repairing damage at the bottom of one of the walls, on a wall they were supposed to paint entirely. A very disappointing experience.
