Terrible customer service

We wanted to cancel our alarm service....and we have gotten nothing but the run around. Apparently I made a verbal contract for 60 months with a customer service rep over the phone. I hadn’t a hard time understanding the rep due to language barrier. I only received my contract via email a week ago. When I said that I didn’t agree to a 60 month contract and never received a contract when we renewed we were told “we can’t control the mail” Now they won’t allow us to get out of our contract, and refuse to send the statement of remaining balance to us, only giving us a verbal amount. They will send a statement after it’s been paid. What a joke. We didn’t even sign with ADT in the first place, they bought out the original alarm company we signed with.

Do not trust ADT

When ADT signs you up they are excellent at your door with nice looking young sales men. The system was put in well and maintained well, until it broke. I did not want a new system so I had a broken system that worked most of the time but not always. In fact, the lights would go out at night or during the daytime when I am at work. This went on for over 1 year. My contract has ended but the operators tell me that it is still valid but it is over and I sent in my written cancellation. ADT keeps changing my contract end date when it expired May 31, 2018. ADT also signs up senior ages 89 & 90 years old when they will not live that long. ADT is dishonest and disrespectful. Use another Alarm company.

Kari Mottram - owner of the SPORTSMAN MOTEL IN SASKATCHEWAN.

We are a small motel in small town Saskatchewan. Our service with adt protectron is less than acceptable. The flood sensors are fantastic and have saved us from major catastrophic flooding more than a dozen times. However, nothing else that we signed up for works at all. We were sold a camera for our front desk and it was neglected to be mentioned to us that our upload speed wasn’t good enough to have the camer. We installed smoke detectors in our rooms so we can monitor them better. They are so sensitive that people having a shower will set it off. I have recently been told by another security company that they should never had been installed in the first place because the room is too small. They get set off so often that I have the fire department on speed dial to call them off EVERYTIME they go off. I want them off my service because they have been sold to us Under false pretences and do not do what we were promised they’d do. ADT will NOT take them off my contract.
The last gentleman I spoke to laughed at me when I asked him questions I didn’t think were stupid questions. When I called him out on laughing at people ignorant to the “security world” he tried to tell me he wasn’t actually laughing. I will be cancelling service as soon as my contract is up as we have been paying 60$ a month for hardly anything.

Don’t do it!!

Terrible service! Called because of low battery alert. First man told me to go out and buy 3 volt batteries to replace (over 100$). Then I realized that all the alerts were for wired in sensors. I called back saying that the main battery needed to be replaced. The girl argued with me saying that there was a secondary battery in each tiny sensor. I spent 30 minutes on the floor trying to figure out how to open them ( I’m over 65!). Finally opened one of the motion detectors. No battery! What a waste of time and money! I’m leaving this service, and will find another better run company!

Worst experience

I was away from the country when i got a phone call that my alarm went off!! I told them to cancel it and that it was a false alarm and she said she would do that!! After 4 hours i get another call saying my alarm went off and she didn’t know anything about the previous phone call that I already got!! They left my alarm going on for 4 hours even though i told them not to!! Until the police showed up!
I had to pay the police 150 dollars for their mistake!!
And of course when you call they dont have anyone to solve problems by phone and they asked me to send an email instead!!
Of course that was never resolved!!
To top everything off!! Apparently i missed 2 payments which i had no idea about!! And Instead of calling me to notify me first or email me they sent it to collections!!
Worst experience!! I don’t recommend them to anyone!!

Put on collection for a verbal 3 more years contract

This company is deceptive and tricky. Tricked us into paying for a verbal 3 year contract with no signature. No consideration for a customer who has been with them for over 10 years. We informed them that we were going to move in 3 months and were not going to sign onto another contract. They (Tanya) bullied us (by phone) onto a reduced monthly rate which we did not agree or sign. We informed them we were moving. Long story short, we mistakenly paid for a portion ($500 by credit card) of our verbal agreement back in March, 2018 -- We got confirm no. and agreed to end this matter. They verbally agreed but we stipulated we wanted a written form saying this was the end. We did not receive that. Now they have sent our name to a collection agency saying we owe them for the remaining amount on our NON SIGNATURE Contract. DO NOT TRUST ADT. They are trickers and underhanded. We will be filing a complaint with the Better Business Bureau and hiring a lawyer.

ADT Protectron is deceiving customers, illegal practices

I signed on 3 years ago for a 36 month contract. I have dutifully paid for 36 months. Now that I have told them I want to stop their services, they say that I actually signed on for 39 months! A complete and utter deception. This is deceptive and illegal practice. I even have paperwork that says 36 months!!!

Second problem is the alarm system keeps beeping every day even if the alarm is not set to arm. I have to disarm it every single time it beeps. There is something wrong with the system obviously. This company has refused to fix the problem. They said they will someone to come fix it only if I pay them to!! Can you believe this nonsense?

I will report them to the better business bureau and I will launch legal action for illegal deceptive practices.

Home monitoring

Signed into a 2 year contract Friday July 19th with an install date of July 27th. on the 26th I get a call from Adt that I missed due to being at work and on another call, called the number back and was told it was probably just the tech saying he was on his way a day early but they had no records of the call (should of been my first red flag). no one shows up so ok the 27th comes and the tech shows up 45 mins early (great you would think) he “installs “ 5 magnet sensors one motion sensor and plugs in my pad then leaves, saying because my door bell didn’t “ding” he couldn’t install the doorbell monitor. forgotthe “z plug” thingy and didn’t install the flood sensor , all of which was signed into on the original contract 2 hours after he leaves the door sensor is falling off already. No further date to come bring what was not installed. Ive had enough at this point and have been trying to cancel for two days now and I have been given the wrong number 3 times to some unknown women iv been hung up on and just ignored.

Worst Security Service

Signed on with ADT in 2014, there were constant issues of false alarms including receiving 5 am phone calls from ADT while we were travelling; we then sent friends to look at our house and nothing had happened. I received a letter from ADT cancelling my service for system issues - once again faulty ADT equipment. Because it was a break of contract, they are saying that I have to pay the cancellation fee even though it was ADT who broke the contract. Bunch of con artists hiding in a corporation.

If I could give a netagive rating I will

Our family’s alarm system started with Protectron since 2014, then it changed to ADT. As my business uses ADT and did not have problems, I felt it’s okay about the change.
In the past we had accidentally hit the wrong button but cancelled it with code on the keypad without any problem (the patch was close to the door). Protectron did call to verify, sometimes a couple times if we missed the first call.
Since Protectron passed to ADT, we had a couple times hit the wrong button to set off the alarm then cancelled it by put in the code right away then nothing happened, and never received any calls from ADT. We were actually thinking of calling ADT to find out if we were still in service or not, as our 3 years contract was up a year ago (we do notice the payment was taken each month).
Today I accidentally hit the fire alarm button and cancelled it right away within 3 second. As we did not receive a call before, I did not expect any call and did not check my phone. 15 minutes later, we had a group of firefighters at the door because of the alarm! After sending them off, I found a missed call on my cell and a voice message telling me she was calling about the fire alarm and asked me to call IF I HAVE ANY QUESTION. I do not have any question, I cancelled the alarm right away as what I did in the past.
I called customer service and was told it was the ADT’s procedure, and she ‘did not see why we don’t call the fire department’. I asked then what’s the point of key in the code to cancel the alarm right away? She answered: “That’s our safety procedure.” I know there’s no point to argue with her so I asked for cancelling the service. My call was transferred to another lady who told me right away our service will be cancelled in 30 days. My husband was beside me and he asked why in the past we did not receive any phone calls when similar things happened. The customer service representative just said our last contract day is April 21st and then HANG UP. It’s our first time we got hang up when calling customer service.
We are now expecting a false alarm fine from the city, but feel it's good to leave ADT.
