Sears has declined to honour a 25 year warranty on their shingle instalation. I was informed my an independant roofing specialist in September 2007 that my roofing shingles (that were supplied and installed by Sears in September 1999), were starting to curl at the edges over the entire roof and would soon need replacing. He stated that "BP (the shingle manufacturer), had many problems during that time" and many claims were submitted.
A physical inspection and photographs by a Sears representative resulted in an official letter this month, February 2009, stating by BP that "your shingles will perform the duration of the warranty period. it is normal to have some curling as shingles age".
The roofing specialist and myself believe that the curing is excessive(only 8 years old), aesthetically unappealing, and myself being a Realtor, their is a reduction in my property value due to this condition.
One reason I chose Sears was I thought they had a good reputation.
I am extremely disappointed and considering some claims court action.
