Fiberglass Front Door & Garage Doors

I built a custom bungalow 2 years ago and went to Uni-tech in Vaughan to look at front doors. They were very helpful , friendly and knowledge about fiberglass front doors.. I ended up giving Richard the business not only for the front door but also 4 overhead garage doors with belt driven motors and to install everything.. I felt so good about the purchase and dealing with them that I paid in full!! 3-4 Weeks later I got them to give me a template of the front door so my stone mason could know the radius of the door and complete his work.
Delivery time was 6-8 weeks and they met that. So the front door arrives and the colour was wrong, it had lights in the frame which we didn't want and the type of glass on either side was not what we chose. They tried to convince me that the door was the colour I chose but admitted after when I had images to prove otherwise. They said they would take back the door and fix it or replace it but that would be another 6 -8 more weeks. I knew that they could have easily fixed this door within a week but they said they were too busy to do it sooner.
I couldn't wait any longer and trying to avoid arguments I decided the hell with it just install the door. So the installer removes the template and puts in the door. The radius of the door is way off and has about 2" - 3" gap on the top centre of the door. I asked the installer why the door doesn't match the template.. His words exactly. " the template is not exact it's just a rough estimate"
Well I almost lost it but held my cool and said "my mason and caulker can fix it."I was really upset about the front door but in the grand scheme of things i was at the finishing stages of the build and that was the least of my worries. Overhead Garage doors came a few days later, 2 installers showed up that seemed like it was their 2nd time installing. 4 Doors were slapped up, the doors and frames were crooked, doors didn't seal properly when closed and were extremely noisy. I called and complained and they sent someone else back to fix them. Well he tried to fix them the best he could without ripping everything out but it didn't help.. I called back and told Claudio to come out and have a look for himself at the install. He said he would that night but never did. i tried calling him for about 3 weeks and got tired of leaving messages and being avoided.
I ended up paying another garage door company $800 to redo the install. They needed to use better rails and rollers because the ones used were very cheap. Now my doors are whisper quiet..
I remember Richard selling me on how good his rollers where. The ones he showed me in the showroom were nylon rollers, he gave me cheap plastic ones..when I questioned this he said that there was an up charge for this and it wasn't on my bill.
Even though at the start their price came in a little cheaper then competitors it was not worth the frustration, lack of customer service, deceitfulness and a poor quality job all around..
I would never refer this company to anyone I know.
If you still want to use this company make sure every last detail is noted on the bill and only give a small deposit.

Hizaka Fiberglass Door with Transom

This is the worst company to deal with in our 30 years of renovation and home building experience. We got a replacement front door in May 2007. We met them at the Home Show and the doors looked great.

The process started with installer making a template of the transom which he made incorrectly (not symmetrical). So they make the door and transom defectively which should never have passed QC and been shipped to be installed!

Then installation was so poor. The installers were worse than amateurs. The inside trim was butchered. The amount of caulking required on the outside to fill the gaps to the brick was over an 1"-2" because the door was made to incorrect measurements.

When we complained the sales guy (Tom) came over then the "owner" came and both were hesitant to admit the obvious. Hummed around trying to weasel out from admitting their error. Finally agreed to replace the door so they could leave and that was the last we heard from them. Repeated calls went unanswered.

If you do decide to deal with them (don't know why) make sure you don't give them more than 10%. If they want more just walk.

What could this company do to improve their services?
Mistakes happen. It is how a company resolves what was so blatantly wrong. In fact they could have earned a lot of points by fixing the problem instead running away.
Any advice to offer fellow homeowners facing a similar project?
DO NOT GIVE THEM A LARGE DOWN PAYMENT (LIMIT TO 10%). INSPECT EVERYTHING IN DETAIL AFTER INSTALLATION AND BEFROE RELEASING THE BALANCE.

Fibre Glass Doors

a word for the wise - do not do bussiness with this company. After only 4 years of having installed new fibre glas doors, the quality has surpassed just "poor", then are in horrible condition with paint pealing, cracking, and cocking seeing from the glass windows. For the ridiculous amount of money they charge for their services, it is not worth a single penny. On numerous occasion i have called Uni-Tech in order to speak to a manager to have someone come to check out the problem/lack of quality of our doors, but he has failed to do on more then 20, yes 20 occasions. After four years of built up frustrations and the constant annoyance of coming home o crap doors, my patience is running thin. For anyone who would like to see picture of how my doors look feel free to email me and i'll send you photos so you can see what you can expect of this service. (email: blukasz31@gmail.com). I can honestly say that i will never recommend this service to anyone, rather warn them to avoid it. The quality and service of this company are a joke! AVOID AT ALL COST.

Fiber glass entry door with transom

I just got an entry fiberglass door with a transom installed by Uni-tech windows and doors, and have to say that I am extremely pleased with the final product. I dealt with Richard Debiasio who was very helpful and knowledgeable of their product. Their product is top notch. The door gave my house that "wow factor" I was looking for. The look on the inside is even more dramatic. My wife and I just love it. The installation was completed in 7 hours from start to finish. The installers did an excellent job. It was a pleasure dealing with Richard of Uni-tech windows and doors. He definitely tried his best to please us. I would deal with Uni-tech again without any hesitation.

Replace All Windows and Doors

Unitech was excellent, they were extremely helpful from the first day that we walked into there showroom. The sales rep was very knowledgeable and was able to help us work within our tight budget. The quality of the install was excellent, the guys were very professional, quick, friendly and the final product was of very high quality and the windows look fantastic. The install was very clean and no additional damage was done to the interior or exterior of the house. I would recommend that if anyone is looking to get new windows that they go to Unitech and have them quote what they're looking for. I am very pleased with the product and would use them again if I ever need to shop for windows or doors.

New Front Door

Although the door is absolutely stunning and the installation of it was perfect, dealing with them was frustrating. Instead of taking 3-4 weeks, it tooks almost 3 months to get my door ready/installed. Richard (although a nice guy) never returned my calls, which forced me to go to their office to get answers. If you're in no rush, they make beautiful doors/windows, at good price, but just be aware that they will not meet their promised delivery date, and that you'll have to hound them to get it.

Windows and doors for our new home

We have the most beautiful wrought iron door in the neighborhood. People actually stop to look at it. Our windows are beautiful and were installed to perfection.
