I had Affordable Insulation come to top up my attic insulation. Jason’s initial consultation was very thorough; he took a long time to inspect the attic and was able to point out there was insulation missing from the top of one wall. He was the only contractor to take measurements outside the house. Until he came, I didn’t know there were different kinds of fibreglass insulation and he was careful to explain the properties of each. Affordable offers a type that is not harmful or irritating to the skin. On the day of installation, the men courteously called ahead of time. The first thing they did was to inspect the wiring and ensure that the one potlight was a certain safe type; I was concerned about damage caused by mice, so it was comforting to know there were no problems that way. Then they took time to repair the frame of the attic hatch.

The whole job took three hours for my small two-storey house, longer than I could have expected from other contractors, and the extra time was worth the extra cost. Actually, on an hourly basis they came out cheapest of the ones I contacted. They were able to confine activities to the bedroom where the attic hatch was located by passing the hose through a window, and they filled the opening with bats of insulation to minimize heat loss. I was impressed when another member of the family (it’s a family-run firm) came to inspect the work, and that they offered the chance to climb the ladder to take a look at the finished job. They put down drop cloths and did a proper cleanup once they were done. The whole effort was worth the peace of mind. Even the cat liked them!

Jason gave us a very thoughout quote and took the time to explain all components and answer all our questions. He helped us to understand some of the hidden costs in other quotes that appeared to be cheaper. The service from Affordable is complete - everything is included in the price with no hidden fees or additional costs for extra work beyond the insulation (e.g., checking attic is vented properly, sealing up around pipes and attic hatch), so you know what you'll end up paying.
They day of the job, the team did a great job and took time to answer my questions. They did a full inspection of the attic and keep me informed of what they found and how they fix it. The made an effort to keep our home clean and had me check the work once they were done. A great job and great service. We highly recommend this company for any attic work.

I didn't spend much time locating and researching companies to add insulation in my attic......I didn't have to. I went to the HomeStars website, plugged in my search criteria and out came the info I required (i.e. an attic insulation company in Oakville with excellent references and a HomeStars rating of 10, namely Affordable Insulation ("AI").

I phoned AI and arranged a day / time for Jason to come to inspect the attic and provide me with a quote. On the appointed day Jason phoned to let me know that he would be 15 minutes late, then arrived when he said he would. He climbed up into both attics (upper & lower) and then proceeded to explain to me the pros & cons of different insulation types, air flow requirements, the implications regarding pot-lights, the state of my attic, etc...

He left me with a quote and some information brochures, but applied no pressure and no requirement for a deposit. A couple of days later I phoned AI to give them the go-ahead and we arranged a date in January for them to do the job. Knowing that we were hoping to get this done quickly, Jason called me later and said if I wanted he would arrange to do the work the morning of Christmas eve (Dec.24). Happily I agreed.

The AI team arrived on time, set up and began work, having explained to me what they were doing each step of the way. Jason came by at one point to ensure everything was proceeding to my satisfaction, as well as his. (It was) I took a number of pictures during the morning and the AI installer offered to take some photos for me from inside the attic several times during the process.

When the job was done they did a great job of cleaning up such that the only evidence that they were there is the cold areas in the house are now warmer and more comfortable .......
....and hopefully significantly lower energy costs.

Last year around this time we noticed that our home was quite cold and uncomfortable. At first we thought it may be the furnace or the windows but soon realized that the insulation in our 60-year old home was inadequate.

Knowing very little about insulation we got out the phone book and called a few companies. We spoke to several and only a few wanted to come by to inspect the attic and provide a quote in person, one of those companies was Affordable Insulation.

Jason came by and within a few minutes I had a good feeling about this company. Jason was professional, had a great attitude and was very knowledgeable. Prior to looking in the attic he spent time with us to get a better understanding of our concerns. This was appreciated and clearly shows that he wants us to be happy once the work has been completed.

Jason then inspected our attic (I was surprised at how long he was up there) while going over a few things with my husband. It was during the inspection that he brought up a couple of issues that needed to be addressed prior to blow in. Jason was the only contractor that caught these issues.

While providing a written quote, Jason went over our options, explained what’s involved as well as what to expect. Not once during this process did we feel any pressure. Jason made us feel comfortable and provided more than enough information for us to make an informed decision.

At that point we knew this was the right company for us and proceeded to book a time for the work to be completed.

On the day of the job Jason’s father Syd showed up on time and prior to insulating the attic explained the process while Rod took great care in protecting our home and getting it ready for the blow in. The job went just the way they explained and at the end they cleaned up and left the house the way they found it.

We noticed an immediate difference in the comfort of the home and now that we have gone a full year with the new insulation we can honestly say that this has made a big difference and has saved us a lot of money on our heating and cooling bills.

From start to finish Affordable Insulation was exceptional and we would recommend them to anyone looking for a great Insulation company.

Jason and his installation team were fantastic!
His sales presentation was professional and his explanations were very thorough.
The crew called twice on the day of installation, letting me know how they were progressing and when they would arrive at my house.
Even though they were held up at the first job, there was no rushing to 'get the job done' and when they left there was virtually nothing to clean up.
Jason did a telephone follow up to see how everything went; I can't remember the last time any trade did that!
The only dissappointment is they don't do spray foam insulation because I would have them do my crawlspace as well.
I would recommend Affordable Insulation to anyone.

Work was esxceptional quality. Work team took great care to protect surroundings including from driveway to ewoodwork. Took time to explain work, discuss issues and remedies. Result was our total satisfaction. It was all the little things that made the job a pleasant experience. Added wall insulation (a half wall exposed) at no charge. Left our home spotless. We are very pleased and impressed with the high qulity and professional workmanship right from the estimate to inspection of the work by the owner as the job was completed.

From the initial consultation and when the work was completed, I was truly happy with the results. It was explained to me in detail exactly what the process will be and what to expect. I'm content that I did increase my rating, being an old home, this will be valuable in the long run for me in saving money. I truly enjoyed dealing with Affordable Insulation, there were no sales pressures of any kind, and the product was explained thoroughly and as their name states, it is "affordable insulation".

They were very respectful of my home, they protected my window (entry point) and my entrance and carpeted staircase. And after the work was done, they welcomed my inspection and did a great job of cleaning up after themselves.

after researching on line and interviewing several contractors, I selected Affordable Insulation. They took the time to explain in great detail what service would be provided. There is a variety of materials and their quality and I was satisfied that they were using top quality insulation and techniques. The crew that arrived were very polite and friendly. The spent time protecting the work areas and covering carpets. They spent about an hour prepping the attic and were able to answer any questions I had. I pointed out some areas of concern that I had with my attic including bathroom vents and one area of the house that seemed like the original insulation may have been lacking. They ensured that my areas of concern were paid special attention to. After the insulation was blown in I was invited to come up and inspect the work. The attic was still fully lit so I could clearly inspect the work and see they had provided the promised depth of insulation through out the attic. The total time for the work was approximately 3.5 hours. Overall we were very satisfied with the quality of work. The fully cleaned up after themselves and it was hard to tell they had ever been in. The fully delivered on all their promises.

In early December 2010 we had Affordable Insulation blow additional insulation into our 16 year old home. My initial contact with Jason was very professional. He took the time to explain the process, inspect our attic area and answer any questions that I had. The crew called an hour before arrival as Jason had said. They also took the time to inspect all of the pot lights to ensure that they were up to code. They were very professional, protecting the floors and windows and cleaning up after the job was completed. I would not hesitate to recommend them in the future.

If you require new or additional insulation in your attic I would highly recommend Affordable Insulation. When providing a quote Jason went up into the attic to inspect the existing insulation and condition of the attic. He made a couple of recommendations including hooking up the bathroom fan to the roof vent, and took the time to explain the procedure involved for installing the insulation including the different R-value ratings. The company was flexible and accommodating as I had to cancel our original appointment and reschedule. When they arrived to blow in the new insulation they took every precaution to ensure that all walls and floors were properly protected.
