Firemen Movers

As a single parent, I was very anxious and stressed out about moving my family. Firemen Movers relieved my stress and worries from my very fist contact with them. Not only was their customer service outstanding, everyone I spoke with was courteous and professional. The crew was efficient, on time and pleasant. The entire experience far exceeded my expectations and I have recommended them to everyone I know.

Moving is difficult at the best of times but when you are moving your father's belongings and he passes away the day of the move......you need a professional team to take control. This crew was amazing and extremely sensitive. They liaised with the superintendant and the retirement home at both places and then again at storage unit. Thank-you for the special attention to his personal belongings and making a terrible day a little bit better.

Our move far from simple. Get a large object (ping-pong table) out of a basement in Toronto, drive to our father's cottage (who has just past away) and collect LARGE tools and machinery (things that dont fit in boxes - LOL)- jigsaws, etc, and then come to our summer home in Haliburton and pick up an entire apartment's worth of furniture to be moved to our new place (all in 24 hours)....
In all our moves, from Asia to Ottawa, we have never had the curteousness and professionalism that FIREMEN MOVERS gave us....and let's not forget that they were the hardest working men we have yet to see.

THE ICING ON THE CAKE - in our final stage of the move - when a 9 foot teak cabinet doesn't fit in the kitchen by 1/4 of an inch - and in a small condo this matters - and I am about to give in - one of our FIREMEN - sugested moving some pieces around (LARGE TEAK HEAVY PIECES that they had already put into place) and saved the day......

We hired movers for the first time as we were moving only days before Christmas. We searched a number of companies based on recommendations and went with Firemen as their price was comparable, no hidden costs and the owner actually came to our house to provide an estimate. He was very candid with us and gave us a realistic estimate of cost. On the day of the move, four movers showed up on time, worked hard in carefully moving our items from and to the new house. In the new house, we had just finished the floors so we were hyper nervous. In both houses, they used runners to protect the floors to the third floor and wrapped all furniture with plastic wrap. We helped them move throughout the day and at the end of the day the cost came in well under estimate. I swear I'm never moving again but if I do, I would use them again.

When you think of firemen you think of totally honest/reliable. This was a small move. When I explained the move to one of the owners, it sounded like the cost would be about 200 with tax. That hooked me in.
Turns out, it was close to $300.
Are they even allowed to use their affiliation as firemen for a private company?
Employees seemed nice enough.

I chose Firemen Movers based on trust, I used other movers in past and there were hidden costs. Firemen Movers showed up on time, no hidden costs, clean cut and polite. This can be a stressful time but Firemen Movers made the move stress free. I would definitely recommend them, I found them on their website www.firemenmovers.com.

Hired these guys based on reviews found online to move me from the suburbs into Toronto. The truck was only 15 minutes late showing up (totally acceptable) and the guys were great. Overall I had zero complaints about how smooth the move went, until that is, AFTER the move when I realized my 40" LCD television was no longer working. (for the record, it was working the morning of the move, but hasn't worked since). The TV was packed in its original box complete with styrofoam, etc. the day of the move. It was the last thing we packed.

Upon unpacking it and setting it up in my master bedroom in the new house, I discovered it was no longer working. The TV turns on/off, but there is no picture which indicates the bulb was busted in the move. I immediately contacted Firemen Movers and the gentlemen I spoke with the first time asked me why I waited a week to contact them (which, for the record, I thought was complete BS). I work full time. I have a 3-bedroom house to unpack. I have a daughter to register for school. There are a million things I was dealing with, so hooking up the television in my master bedroom was NOT at the top of my list of priorities. Needless to say, I got nowhere with him except "this has never happened to us before" and a promise to call me back after the weekend.

I also contacted a TV repair company who indicated this will happen if the TV is mishandled (dropped, bumped, etc). After 3 weeks of back and forth phone tag with the moving company, I finally connected with them today to be told there is nothing they will do because they are not responsible for anything they themselves did not pack. So, either I hire them to not only move me but pack me up as well (that would have easily cost $3000 in time alone) or I pay $1200, pack my belongings myself, but risk being stuck with a barely 2 year old $1400 LCD TV that doesn't work. Awesome situation.

So, given the way they've dealt with this - would I recommend them? Nope. I would not. Based on the way they have chosen to handle this.

I found Firemen Movers after doing a Google search on movers in Toronto. Doug was extremely professional when I called, and answered all of my questions. The move could not have gone smoother....these are all current firemen who do this on the side...but they care about your belongings ! I have never had a move with no damage, scratches, etc. The 3 men assigned that day were true professionals, and I would use them again in a second.

Way to go Firemen Movers for being honest, delivering a great product, and having excellent employees !
