I am not a man of many words, but will say this. Tom Sr and Tom Jr showed great professionalism in talking and estimating the cost of labor for my project. Junior Tom was at the project site right on time and finished on time and quality is top notch. I will trust Tom and Tom with my eyes closed for my future projects, their service is worth every dollar. Trust me I been through a lot of carpenters before I hired Rawlinsons Carpentary, one of best decisions that I made recently.

This is my second season with RawlinsonCarpentry- ( porch-over done @4 yrs ago)-I called up Tom Rawlinson ( owner) very early because the boards on my 25 year old 20’ X 13’ deck were bowing badly. I thought a redeck was needed. Tom has many years of experience and his work is always clean, very attractive and rock solid. So, he and his talented assistant Tom , came out for a look. To make a long story short, the deck needed way more than a
“restore”. With great detail, Tom showed me all the issues with the current deck. For example, the previous owner built the deck without beam lines ( thus the sag) and joists and boards were either rotted or too warped to reuse. Tom always tries to think of ways to save money and we discussed the possibility of salvaging what we could along the way eg: lattice etc. So I hired Tom for the job and he kept
in touch via phone/email until start date ( april/2021).
Once started, the deck “ rebuild” quickly evolved
into a stunning , brand new solid structure - I added 2 very tall privacy screens ( with new 4x4 posts) and
as the gale force winds howl outside right now, those
things arent budging. Thanks Tom and Tom
for another stellar job and I cant wait to sit out
there without worrying about falling through the
boards. And thankyou Tom for the little
freebies you threw in along the way- very much
appreciated. I look forward to your return in
June for a new gate and deck pergola.

Good workmanship! Despite the difficult challenges that Covid has imposed on the building trades, Tom and his crew came through with a beautiful set of stairs and a well-laid patio. He continually kept me informed, arrived when he said he would, kept the site clean, and finished in the time he predicted. And at a reasonable cost, too. I would definitely recommend Rawlinson Carpentry.

Our deck was old and falling apart; a safety hazard for our kids. I don't know much about carpentry or home improvement so was looking for good honest advice and bang for my buck. Tom and his guys were excellent. He could have sold me a full new deck (which would have been way more expensive) but instead he was able to use my existing foundation and simply re-deck and make it look like a brand new deck....thus saving me a lot of money and time. He communicated well, providing me with detailed quotes and updates from beginning to end. They were efficient, clean, organized, and very respectful. And they did great work!

Thomas and his crew did a really wonderful job on installing a new build fence and gate for our property. His attention to detail, and pride in workmanship set him apart from some of the trades people we have used in the recent past.

He was always on time, kept the work area clean and safe and communication on all job specifics were always forthcoming and detailed in nature. As an example of his effort to please, we had trouble obtaining a certain kind of lock for our gate, with the Covid thing going on, so he took the exact one we needed off his own property to install on ours.

If I could give them higher than 10 I would, a huge thumbs up!

This is the fourth project I have had Rawlinson Carpentry complete.
The horizontal fence adds elegance to my backyard and compliments previously completed projects. I am so pleased with the outcome and am waiting anxiously for the warm weather to arrive to be out enjoying my backyard.

Wonderful getting to know Tom and His Crew. Excellent workmanship and incredible attention to every detail. Tom explained everything very clearly and there were absolutely no surprises, except for my own. He actually went above and beyond from our original scope and didn’t charge me a penny more for it. After having conducted significant research to find a reputable and reasonable company to build our fence, we decided to go with Thomas Rawlinson because of his professionalism, experience and expertise. We were not disappointed. In addition to building a large beautiful fence on our property (almost 200 linear feet on difficult terrain given the sloping yard and uneven grading on two sides), Thomas was faced with a number of issues (including poor drainage from a neighbouring property, an illegal tree on one of the property lines which required removal by another neighbour, limited space with which to work on another property line as a result of a poorly placed shed, and digging near a gas line) and handled each in a professional, efficient and practical manner leading to great results and top notch work product. Thomas and Tom work great together and are very easy to deal with. Their friendly, honest and straight forward approach lead to a very good work relationship and I would not hesitate to use them again or recommend their services to anyone else needing great quality workmanship at a reasonable price. We started from a pretty bad situation due to general neglect for years from the previous homeowner. We had the lawn torn up, a patio installed, and a whole lot of ground cover installed. We also had our garage and house stripped, repaired and painted. When the renovations began, we were pleasantly surprised that Thomas and Tom both were always punctual daily, worked diligently and always showed our property the utmost respect. They took the time to explain to us in detail what we could expect at every step of the project. We appreciated the fact that neither Thomas or Tom wasted time on their cellphones. They were there to work and work diligently they did. Everyday at the end of day, they took the time to clean any area they were working on. We always had an end of day summary of what was done and what still needed to be done going forward. All in all, we were treated fairly, the project was priced fairly and completed in a timely and professional manner. There were several add on projects that were also completed and they even threw in a few freebees that were greatly appreciated. We were very pleased with the results and we will definitely be calling them back for any future work.
