Curbz Garden Design & Renovation

My wife and I hired Curbz Garden Care this year to look after our landscaping, and we were very pleased with them. They were very reliable, friendly and fairly priced....not to mention they do a great job! We will definitely hire them again next year! Thanks guys!

You never saw such a bunch of hard working young people who worked non stop in the heat to transform the garden I'd written off into a vision of order and tidiness. Judith's advice on what needed to be done, for example on transplanting instead of purchasing new plants, was inspired.

To say that we were frustrated with our experience with Curbz would be an understatement. In a nutshell: Hire another gardener.

Based on the great reviews listed previously on homestars, I contacted Jude in early spring and asked her for a referral since my house is 2km outside of her zone. To my surprise, she offered to take me on, saying we weren’t too far and she had another client close by. She came out and discussed our project in detail – and we were very impressed by her professionalism. The good part ends there.

We waited a month for the first visit by her crew. When they came, apparently they didn’t have the project list so several tasks were not touched. They did, however, manage to rip down a beautiful vine in our backyard. Another month and many excuses later, they came back to finish up – and again left the project incomplete, saying they forgot some of their tools. (It's worth nothing that at this point it had been two months since our meeting with Jude and, although she had insisted she would only take us on if we bought an obscenely expensive maintenance package, there had been no maintenance visits at all.)

Among our project items was the restoration of a stone path that was sliding apart in our front yard. Jude proposed to re-level and re-lay the stones, and add a stone border. Instead, a guy showed up and moved only the last row of stones into place and put an ugly plastic guard on 40% of the path. It didn't come close to fixing the problem properly. The list goes on… badly laid new sod, dried out plants, sun plants placed in the shade, shade plants placed in the sun…

We consider ourselves to be honest and fair people. We gave Jude the benefit of the doubt for months. In the end, Jude was the one to fire us – because we were outside her service area. And despite admitting that she was not able to deliver services as promised, she sent us a final invoice for more than the initial proposal.

If you’re looking for a good gardener, who bills fairly and shows up every week – don’t hire Curbz.

Jude and her team were timely and efficient.We are very pleased with the job done and do recommend her. Their quote was very reasonable.

We have used Curbz Garden Care twice now, the first time, last September to perform a Fall clean up and to bed the shrubs and roses for the Winter, and last month for a Spring clean up and wake up package.
We had never used the services of a gardening company before and what a difference it makes!
Jude and her team (Alex and Steve) are excellent. They have brought our formerly wild gardens back to life and have brought order and symmetry to the front, side and back gardens. Our neighbours have been very impressed :)
They also trimmed and fertilized our wall of 8 foot cedars, a job for which we normally hire an arborist.
Jude and her crew are friendly, reliable and they listen. Any suggestions we had, or questions / concerns were always reviewed and dealt with promptly.
It is a pleasure now to sit outside and admire our beautiful gardens.

Late April, Jude (Curbz's owner) and I agreed on the scope and price ($350 per month) to maintain my property this summer. The scope includes: "hand weeding of all gardens and lawns, edging of all gardens, pruning and dead-heading of all perennials, shrubs and trees, lawn care (including overseeding, weed control, etc.). All applications as required as part of the regular maintenance regimen are included (organic pesticides, washes, etc.)".

Her crew showed up a week later to cut the grass. The week after that, they never showed up. I left her numerous emails, voice messages, and texts and she never replied. Finally showed up days later to cut the grass. Jude told me a firm schedule will be emailed to me and service will become more consistent. Sure enough, no schedule was sent to me so I emailed her again to ask what's going on - no reply from her. Finally, I got an email from her saying that she doesn't have enough customers in Etobicoke to justify coming here and will stop servicing my property immediately.

So I paid her $350 upfront (yes, silly me) for the month of May and only got 2 grass cuts. I spent the next 2 weeks trying to get my money back. After hearing more excuses from her about why it is taking so long to refund my money, I finally received a partial refund today (June 4) of only $210, which means I paid $70 per grass cut (I could have asked my neighbour's kid to cut the grass for $10). Needless to say I didn't receive any of the other services that was agreed in the scope.

Beware if you choose to deal with Jude. If you do choose to use her company, my advice would be to make sure you don't pay them anything until the work is completely done.

It's too bad because her crew seems to be nice people and does decent work.

We were thrilled with the work Jude and her team did for us. They really cleaned up our garden and made it much more manageable. They were always on time, budget and worked very quickly and thoroughly. Jude came with some great ideas and we are now excited to see our garden again this spring! Should we need a gardener again, we will certainly be calling Jude.

Good service, follow up and vision for what the end product would look like. Follow up for what the next process is with our landscaping. Professionally done from first visit to end.

After neglecting my front and back yards for quite some time, Curbz came to my rescue. They completed a big job in one and a half days, and the results were excellent.
