The Deck Store

We were excited for our new deck, composite, glass rails, canopy, lights and waterproofed below. Job to start in 3 weeks and be finished in 3-4 weeks. 4 months later and couting we are still waiting for the deck to be finished. I had to ask several times for them to clean up after they worked. Metal shavings and saw dust were routine and I finally gave up and just used my shop vac after they left. The deck will be awesome once finished, provided they fix some finishing touches . The overall service was much less than I expected for the price.

We recently replaced our 20 year old 8'x12' cedar deck with a new 10'X24' wolf pvc deck with a permanent awning. The deck was designed by Rob Hodichak Sales and Design Manager for the Deck Store in Oakville. He was extremely knowledgeable in the products available and what would best address our needs. We worked with Rob for a few weeks to come up with a final solution that fit our needs and budget. He was very helpful with this process. Once construction began Rob was very diligent in stopping by and checking on the progress and addressing any issues we may have had (which were minimal). He always kept us informed on all phases of the project. Mike, who built the deck was very pleasant and efficient. He did an amazing job with the construction going as far as replacing boards that he was not happy with even though I did not see a problem. As mentioned above we chose the Wolf PVC decking product after visiting the showroom. Rob helped us with choosing the right colors by making us view them outdoors in the natural sunlight. What we initially thought would work looked different in the sunlight which led us to chose two of the newer colors suggested by Rob. We are very pleased with the outcome. We also went with an adjustable patio cover to make the deck enjoyable in any weather. We were originally thinking of building a permanent roof over the deck but Rob suggested going with the adjustable patio cover that would give us the option of having it open or closed to enjoy either sun or shade and to be able to still enjoy the deck during rainy days. We are very pleased with the way it turned out. Dario did an amazing job installing it. Anyone who has seen the deck has been very impressed with both the construction and appearance. If you are planning on building a new deck I would highly recommend visiting Rob at the Deck Store to help you with the planning and design of your project. It has been a pleasure to deal with Rob.

I was impressed with the Deck Store’s showroom in Oakville. The showroom provides a customer with a huge selection of top quality brand products on display to choose from. Jessica Furlano, Showroom Consultant, was extremely pleasant to deal with and answered all questions. She is dedicated and goes out of her way to make a customer feel comfortable. My design consultant, Megan Willekes, was enjoyable to work with. Megan has a calm demeanor and does not push a customer into anything. She listens to a customer’s ideas and offers suggestions to compliment those ideas that will suit the size and design of the deck to the backyard.
I was looking for a “low maintenance deck” and Megan suggested the Wolf PVC product for my deck and I am extremely satisfied with this product. The Wolf Home Products website is a valuable tool for research. Wolf is a top quality product!
I had the opportunity to meet and work with Stan Weiland, Vice President at the Deck Store. There were a few small obstacles, however, Stan provided excellent customer service to ensure the work got done with quick turnover time. I had the opportunity to meet Terry Fangrad, President. Terry listened to my concerns and offered advice. Both gentlemen are genuine and knowledgeable.
I was impressed with the professionalism of Brian and Andrew who built my deck. Their workmanship was ‘top notch’, an excellent job! I would not hesitate to recommend Brian and Andrew to anyone. My deck is rock solid.

From the moment we met Terry and Nelia we were confident we chose the right company for our major backyard facelift. After soliciting 3 quotes, we chose the Deck Store because we were impressed with their creativity and professionalism. It is true they are more expensive, but believe you get what you pay for, and for our project, it was important to chose the Company we felt would support us down the road should something go wrong. Although we are only in the "framing stage" of our 800+ sq foot deck! I am truly amazed how quickly the project is progressing. Carlo and Dario are truly hard workers and will stop to listen about any concerns or questions- they are true professionals! Working in subzero cold, they just keep going, smiling along the way. Although we ran into to some minor disagreement over the initial design and what was being built, Terry and Nelia were here in a heartbeat and we reached mutual consensus over what was the best design for our needs. The decking starts this week and we are truly pumped over what the finished product will look. I will post a review after the total project is completed, but so far very impressed. Even if you are a DIYer, stop by their showroom for inspiration. They even sell beautiful patio furniture.

15 years ago, Terry and his crew designed and built a fairly large 3-level backyard deck incorporating a new hot tub/spa. At the time, we were given an option of using TREX as opposed to the standard cedar. Although more expensive, it has proven to be absolutely worth the added cost; 15 years, no wear or tear; no refinishing; no splinters or rotting boards; nothing but total enjoyment.
After all these years, the hot tub/spa which was NOT supplied by The Deck Store, and around which the deck was built, had served out its practical lifespan. When we had the tub removed, we needed to re-do that section of decking to fill that section left from where the spa had been. Terry and The Deck Store took up what was left of that original section of TREX decking, created a new frame in place of the hot tub/spa, and installed the new and current version of TREX which matches the original almost perfectly after 15 years.
On time, on budget, good clean up, good, friendly workers!

We reviewed a number of options and companies and are glad we went with The Deck Store in Oshawa. Garth Hutchinson, the Store Manager, was amazing. He provided a design for the deck and we went with Timber Tech which turned out to be a great choice. His suggestions for lighting and railing were perfect. The installation team of Greg and Matt were very professional and were perfectionists which we appreciated. They were prompt and cleaned up after themselves. Along the way we asked for changes and they were flexible and accommodating. Garth and Greg know their business inside out and we would absolutely recommend them. You can't go wrong with this company for who they are and their workmanship. We are proud of our new deck and you will be too!

We had our deck updated and redone this summer. They did an excellent job creating a new deck for us. It didn't take them long to finish the job. It took about 4-5 days and they were done. The deck was perfect when it was done. We did notice a few things after that needed fixing and the came out and fixed the spots right away no effs ands or butts. This is a great place to buy a deck from.
