Bathroom faucet

Dave arrived at our home in a timely manner. He was very helpful in assisting us to choose the proper taps and laundry tub and performed the work efficiently. He is both knowledgable and personable and we will certainly call him in the future and would not think twice about referring him to family and friends.

Bathroom Renovation

Dave was a plumber that I found on line. Our bath tug faucet started dripping a lot in the middle of the night so gave Dave a call. Dave said he would come to my house at 7:00 am and he arrived exactly at 7:00. Dave is very punctual. Initially I called him to fix a leak in the bathtub faucet. Dave gave us options to choose which is usually not offered by common plumbers because they tend to go with the more expensive option without consulting us. But Dave explained all the options and made us pick the correct one. After the faucet was fixed, I asked Dave if he could tile around the bath tub area. He immediately agreed to the renovation even though dozens of plumbers denied and said it was a little job. Dave gave us a reasonable estimate. Once the demolition started he realized that there was a problem with the tub. It turned out that the previous home owner placed a bath tub on top of the existing tub. So then we ended up replacing the tub and toilet too. But Dave only charged us a few hundred dollars more to buy the toilet and bathtub and install them so we weren't too far from the estimate. In the end the work turned out great and very clean. Dave stayed within the time line of four days and finished cleanly. Dave was on the job early every morning at 9am and left around 3 or even sometimes 7 everyday. I am very satisfied with the job and will call Dave to handle all plumbing issues I have around my home.

Fix moving & creaking bathtub

I am overdue in writing this review. The work in my home was done in mid-February 2013. A friend of mind found Dave on this Homestars website for me, and when I called through Dave was very helpful and came to assess the job quite quickly. At the time, the past owner of the home had redone the main bathroom upstairs and the tub was very nice and new. However, the tub would move ever so slightly once water was added, and afterwards, the tub would creak and crack (quite loudly) contracting and moving back into place. Dave was confident that he could remedy this issue, and felt that the past owner did not install the tub correctly on the side wall. Dave never over-promised the result.
To do this repair, Dave had to cut a relatively large opening in the dry wall on the other side of the bathroom wall to avoid damaging any tiles, etc. in the bathroom. The net result, was that Dave's fix worked (he had to put cement underneath the tub)! My only negative is that the dry wall job (to fill the opening) is okay, not great, but I understand how hard it is to patch a space on an existing wall. All in all, I found Dave to be very professional, punctual (which was a nice change compared to other tradespeople that I have hired), and hard working. He also accommodated by scheduled which was much appreciated. Overall, I would definitely recommend Dave.

Kitchen Renovation

We found Royal Flush through the internet. Dave was very honest and fair about the price and what is actually needed for our renovations. When he came in with his assistant, they were both very determined in getting the job done well, informing and consulting with us of what was going to happen every step of the way. As a side note, maybe our expectations were a bit too high, so for us, the work could be a little bit more clean. But overall, we are satisfy with their work and would recommend it to other people.

Kitchen Faucet Installation

All we wanted was to replace the faucet. He ended up removing our undermount sink because the nut holding the faucet was stuck. After he was done, not only was there a leak in the piping under the sink but he had done a bad job putting back the undermount sink (not centred so that the custom fit strainer wasn't fitting anymore and the silicone was all over the place and looked incredibly ugly). We called him back, he fixed the leak and re-installed the sink. Result: there was another leak elsewhere and the silicone still looks horrible all around the sink. My other beef: he destroyed my kitchen mat using it as his cushion instead of moving it out of the way. I wish I could get my money back because we finally had to call a different plumber who ended up re-doing ALL of the plumbing under the sink because it was wrong (1. it was still leaking but also 2. the dishwasher hose although elevated, where it connects into the drain it is directing water towards the second sink bowl instead of directly towards the drain). I've also since learned that you should not let a plumber install an undermount sink - this is countertop people's jobs, they know how to properly affix it to the granite countertop with the best glue/silicone and how to clean off the silicone from your sink and counter with special product after it is affixed). Anyhow, buyer beware depending on the job you need done. I have given a couple points because he was on time, and did come back a second time but we just didn't feel comfortable having him back a third time to fix it again.

Company Response

I am very sorry you did not have a great experience with my company. As you knew the bowl had to be removed and it was done after we discussed the issue together.
The nut holding the sink was so tight that even after the bowl was removed we still couldn't get it off. As you knew I was completly unaware of the strainer and came back and put it back in for free. As far as everything being wrong The kitchen sink was initially installed without a vent and I did inform you of this but to comment on what the other plumber told you, the dishwasher should always be installed up and that is so when the pump in the dishwasher shuts off the water doesn't run back and sit at the bottom of the dishwasher here is a link further explaining the issue
http://ca.answers.yahoo.com/question/index?qid=20100225033838AAq46IT I'm very sorry you were not happy with my service but I really wish you would at least rate me fairly. I was on time my price was very fair, I came back and made sure you strainer worked at no charge. I'm sure that someone who only installs undermount sinks could have the caulking around the sink a little cleaner then the way I did it but you have to factor in the job would have costed double. I give all my customers a one year warranty on all work done and if there were further issues you should have called me, as discussed before I left I couldn't test the sink untill the glue dried (24 hours) and I did inform you that if there was any more problems to call me, I never recieved a phone call.

Stand up shower

I called this guy hoping to fix the problem in my washroom. I told his exactly what needed to be done. He agreed with me and promise me that his work has 5 yrs warranty. He promised me that whatever problems might occurred in the work that he did that there will be no question ask he would correct them. I had his word and he has mine. 1st of all he was always late for the job and when cutting the tiles he did them inside the house if he was really professional who does that kind of work. He knew that there was kids inside the house but he didn't bother he still continued... And also my tiles were baige colour and I don't know what in the world he was thinking he decided to put in brown silicone around my glass door which didn't match with what I had originally had. I've called him to come to the house because we were having problems with the tiles that he did it was coming off and honestly I don't think he is licensed renovator. I would never ever recommend this guy to anyone. His sloppy, dirty, he doesn't have is word and I would never trust this guy ever. His one of those guy who just want your money and them gone!!! And one more thing he did my plumbing also in my washroom anyone who wants to see what he did email me @ achua86@yahoo.ca. I'm going to figure it out how to post all the pictures. What a mess he did in my bathroom. I had to hire someone else to re do my washroom again. and I'll show my proof it's up to guys to decide now if u want this guy to work for u. Thanks for nothing Dave.

What could this company do to improve their services?
He might be a licensed plumber but his terrible. It doesn't mean that your a licensed plumber u can do renovations. Even your plumbing is screwed up!!
Any advice to offer fellow homeowners facing a similar project?
Don't trust this guy to do any work for u.

Company Response

I am very disappointed to read this review. I personally stand by both my work and word. There are some circumstances when no matter how hard we try to satisfy a homeowner, they want more (at our expense). It is a pity that the flaws in work previously done were not visible from the start. We wish this homeowner the best.

Underground pipe replacement

Had my main drain pipe back up because it was clogged from tree roots passing through it as well as debris. The drain in the basement started to overflow at 8:30pm on a Tuesday night. I phoned Dave....he was at my house within 15min. He snaked the pipe, put the camera through and found where the backup was (underneath my driveway). Unfortunately for me, we needed to dig down 12 feet on the driveway and replace part of the pipe. Dave makes some calls, and has three people show up the NEXT morning at 8am to do the job with him! He had a crew of diggers, plumbers and even a guy from QX to check for gas lines. The job was completed that afternoon. Great pricing, and great customer service. I have used Dave for clogged sinks, toilets and other minor problems. He always has the best price, and will always try his best to get to your house ASAP! Don't waste your time phoning around for prices.....Dave will beat them. Reliable, trustworthy and personable. I would recommend him to anyone.
