Zen Construction

Josh and the crew at Zen Construction completed a fabulous job at our house in Ancaster which included front steps, driveway borders, shed pad, side walkway, and a stone patio in the backyard.

From beginning to end, there was attention to detail, clear and constant communication, a willingness to offer creative and unique design elements, and a crew that was always courteous and a pleasure to be around.

At the end of the day, we were very satisfied with the final result and should I ever need any further work, I would not hesitate to call Josh and Zen Construction again.

Our project spanned 8 months due to an ugly, long winter. From the get-go Josh was the only contractor of three that came back to us with a quote and one that was very budget-friendly at that. He took our ideas, as best we could describe, tweaked them and came back with a drawing that was a little bit of both.
The majority of the work fell just prior to the first snowfall, and we appreciated the effort to go as far as Josh and the crew went with the exposed aggregate stairs and walkway being completed under tarps due to the cold.
Finally spring arrived and so did a crack in our walkway...one or two emails to Josh and some ideas were thrown around to either work with the crack or repair it. We went with the repair and again with a wait on the weather, the guys were out and the repair made no problem. Last but not least the garden perennials were delivered and planted according to plan, and the guys even did some replanting and removal of old plants for us.
Thank you to Josh and Bobby and all of the guys. I have already recommended Zen to the neighbours and will continue to do so if the opportunity arises.

We have had 2 projects completed by Josh and his company Zen Construction and plan on having our driveway and walkway done by Josh as well. We are extremely pleased with the work that was done. Really happy with Josh and Zen Construction. Very professional, friendly, and well priced. With our heavy winter this year, it was great knowing we always had them there to help when we needed them.

Josh and his team offered excellent service and installation on my irrigation system. Josh spent hours with my wife and I reviewing the design to get it exactly how we wanted it. The system was far superior to any system other companies were offering and at a fraction of the price. Josh's crew did a clean install, they showed true care about my property and the quality of their work. I am an extremely fussy person when it comes to jobs around my property and Josh and his team went above and beyond to be sure I was satisfied. I would highly recommend him and his team for projects around your house or business!

Great service! Josh was very professional and easy to work with this job. He understood exactly what we were looking for and kept us within our budget. We would definitely use Zen Construction again for our future landscaping needs.

We were very very pleased with the work performed by Zen Construction, right from the time we booked the consultation to the end result. The workers were very punctual and professional, and Josh was very quick to responding to any concerns or questions we had along the way. I would certainly hire them for any future projects. Contacted Zen for the above work and because of work the neighbor had done.
We were very disappointed with the job. Hedge was not installed to the depth of the neighbours, no machine was used to dig the trench for planting the trees, not enough cedar mulch used to cover the bed. Chain link fence for two sides of the yard was defective and not installed properly. When asked to fix it, Josh became angry, swore and
did not return calls. His men finally showed up to do the fix and it was just as bad as the first time, so we asked him to remove it entirely, paid for the hedge and patio. He is now telling us Home Depot, whose policy is full refund if merchandise is returned within 90 days, will only give him part of the money back. He wants full payment for half of the fence and we are left with 4 poles sticking out of the ground and Josh wants us to pay $847.00 for these poles. Other neighbours on the street had problems with this company too. We would neither recommend nor use this company again. Very unprofessional and shoddy workmanship, with no attention to detail.

As a follow-up to this story, when we had the first big wind storm,
4 of the trees blew over, so we had to replant them and tie them
to the back fence. We'll have to wait and see if they survive.

Great service from beginning to end! They were Punctual and true to estimate of time. Great follow up after project was completed. We will definitely use them again in the future!
