We are very pleased with our home renovation. Not only is Jeff's workmanship excellent but the customer service he provides is fantastic. Jeff was very patient,despite my indicisiveness, and the recommendations he made proved to be exactly what we wanted. Jeff, Marco and Adam, did everything they could to make sure the five of us could still remain in the home as comfortably as possible. We had three walls removed, ceilings repaired, hardwood installed throughout main floor including bedrooms, upstairs bathroom renovated, upstairs painted, kitchen peninsula installed, ceilings and window installed in basement along with a few other repairs. At the beginning of the project, the flooring company ordered the incorrect hardwood and Jeff went out of his way to accompany me to the store and advocate on our behalf to ensure that a full return of the product was completed at no cost to us along with ordering the proper product despite the company's denial of any wrong doing. We are extremely satisfied with our renovation. It was an absolute pleasure having Jeff, Adam and Marco in our home. They were always friendly and cheerful with my entire family and this could be best summed up by my youngest daughter who said, "Jeff brings happiness wherever he goes". I wouldn't hesitate to recommend Jeff Hayes contracting to anyone!

As an architect renovating my fathers house in a different city where I live, I knew there would be challenges. From the start Jeff submitted a detailed and fair quote where I felt he truly understood the complexities of the project. He broke down the costs proportional so progress payments were simple to handle. Construction proceeded on schedule. Jeff attended to the details, responded to my site reviews and also made man helpful suggestions about design and construction. He was fair with his extras and honoured his quote even where parts turned out to more extensive than anticipated. He is honest straightforward and good with the paper work. Most of all he cared about doing a quality job and went about his business with a cheerful and positive attitude. He was a pleasure to deal with.

Jeff completed this renovation between June 1 and Sept 15 of this year. We chose him because we wanted a hands-on contractor who would take personal responsibility for the job. We were not disappointed. Jeff is not only a master carpenter with a competent, likeable and experienced crew, he is also a nice guy who doesn't nickel and dime you. He isn't out to get rich from your job. He provides good value at a reasonable price. He works hard. I would wholeheartedly recommend him.

Jeff Hayes IS Jeff Hayes Contracting Ltd, He is very hands on and in control throughout the project.
In our case Jeff met with us to see what was required, brought in an architect to design a plan for us, brought in another designer who fit our budget better (and also was a qualified engineer) and even offered financial planning contacts if required.
Jeff guided us through all the planning and stayed on top of the design even though he was busy with other projects. If we had any questions he was only a phone call or e-mail away. Even when we decided that we needed to do our project in stages he was there to show us the best way to go about it.
When we signed the contract agreement Jeff took over the licensing and sub-contracting headaches and gave us a start date. The project started on time and actually finished ahead of schedule. Jeff was a lot of fun to work with and his crew were courteous, knowledgeable and hard-working. If anything came up that was not expected it was just taken care of (no extra fee). All in all a wonderful experience.
Our house is now sitting on a much solider base and we can start to plan out our next phase. We recommend Jeff highly but ask that you not keep him too busy as we want him back to help us with parts two and three (and four?)

Jeff Hayes was fantastic from the very beginning to the very end of the project. Unlike many of his competitors, he sat down with me and asked probing questions about exactly WHAT I wanted to accomplish with this renovation and why. As a result of that conversation, I ended up revising the plans substantially and am happier with the final outcome than I otherwise would have been.

The job consisted of creating a new two-story addition to contain a heated side entrance into a basement apartment, and a complete teardown/rebuild of the basement to create an up-to-code rentable living unit that was completely separated from the rest of the house. Jeff created a rough-in for a future in-home elevator so that the unit could be easily upgraded to house a tenant with special needs.

Jeff is an excellent communicator, and is clear and prompt about bringing up issues as they come up so they can be dealt with. I was never left wondering "what is supposed to happen next", as Jeff led me through the project step by step and laid out each part of the plan.

Jeff has a wide range of experience and there are many jobs he is qualified to tackle personally. However, he also knows his limits and will defer to specialists on occasion when the need arises. He always maintains tight control of the project, and all his subcontractors were all very good in their own right.

Jeff is an extremely hands-on owner, and works alongside his staff at all times. You can be sure when Jeff is on duty the job will be done right.

The project only went around 15% overbudget, which as I understand it is very respectable for a renovation of this size.

Although the project took a few months longer than expected, I am extremely happy with the final product and would most definitely recommend Jeff to anybody considering basement renovations, especially the more complex jobs.

We hired Jeff Hayes Contracting to do our basement renovation. Boy are we glad we did. We love the results. Before, the area was very dark, dank and used mostly just to house our furnace, washer and dryer along with a lot of stuff we stored down there when we didn't need it anymore. Now however, the area is bright and very useable. All of the little details really make a difference. Jeff was so accommodating with all of my changes, he was so good about discussing the progress of work and any problems with us. Jeff is very reliable and knowledgeable about all aspects of the work we had preformed. We are really happy with the final outcome. I had a leak in my wall which was traced to my roof. The previous roofing company installed aluminum roofing, but left a 1" x 2" hole on the top of my roof. This occurred when I had the roof installed in 2009. Last summer I noticed the wall bubbling, so I had my handyman repair the wall. The same thing occurred this summer. I had my handyman rip out the drywall to the roof line. To my amazement, the insulation was soaking wet, the plywood was also wet and some of it was black. I searched Homestars and obtained estimates from five companies. I chose Jeff Hayes Contracting. He was very honest right from the first time I met him. His workers are very efficient and clean up after themselves. The workmanship is excellent. Jeff has honoured his time estimate by completing my renovation within the deadline he provided on the contract. His cost for the project was very reasonable. Jeff inspects the jobs his workers complete to ensure that the work is being done according to his standards. Jeff was diligent in following up with my aluminum roofer to ensure as smooth a transition as possible for the new shingles to be installed on the newly adjoining roof (only the aluminum roofer could install the shingles due to the 50-year transferable warranty). I would definitely recommend Jeff Hayes Contracting for renovations that have to be done on your property.

I recently had Jeff renovate my basement (including tearing down complete basement, re-building a bedroom, washroom, power panel, plumbing...). It was a pleasure from the beginning to be working with Jeff and his team. Jeff provided a detailed estimate which helps me understand better work items and cost for each stage of project. He also offered some innovated ideas that converting some obscure corner spaces into useful storage spaces! He is very accommodated and made sure that I am informed and agreed on aspects of the work through out the whole project. His team (James, Randy, Doug, Austin, Andy...) and sub-contractors Mike (electrcian), James (plumber) are easy to work with, friendly, efficient, informative and professional. The project finished within committed time frame and on budget (even though an unexpected cost occurred due to the change of power meter which was demanded by Hydro Ottawa that out of Jeff's control). I'm thrilled with the end result, and now am enjoying a beautiful professionally finished basement with vast storage space. Thanks Jeff (and your team :-) !
