Birnie Electric/ Home Safe

I had a great experience with the Birnie Home Safe team. They came in an performed an electrical inspection, where they outlined all of the hazards I had in my home - I had no idea. I have an older home and I thought maybe they 'd find a few things but I never thought my home was as bad as it was. Needless to say, I had repairs performed and I am so relieved. The electricians were professional and the office staff was great.

We recently had some lighting work done in our kitchen – the retrofit of a fluorescent fixture to LED and the installation of a new fixture in the eating area. From start to finish the staff, from the manager to administration to electrician, was courteous, knowledgeable and professional. We could not be happier with the resulting work. After months of talking to people who didn’t seem to understand what we wanted done it was such a relief to finally have the job so well completed. Steve (the electrician) was punctual, worked neatly and definitely knew what he was doing. We would certainly recommend Birnie Electric and call on them again for future work.

I recently purchased a home that was built in 1970s and had aluminium wiring. During home inspection, the inspector said the connections between aluminium wire and copper devices must be redone properly by electricians and must fall inline with ESA guidelines. So, I found this seminar listed in newspaper that was organized by Birnie electric and went with no idea. I am so glad I attended it as I got a lot of information and realized my home required work immediately. So, Michael from Birnie Electric came in for a 45 min free evaluation. He took a look around the house, made some observations and explained all the potential hazards. He explained the 3 step process - 1) An electrician from Birnie will spend a day to evaluate every electric access point and document all his findings. This is a paid evaluation. If you choose to hire them to do the fixes, a part of that fee goes toward the fix. 2) Someone from Birnie will come over to explain the documentation, what needs to be done, how much it would cost and installment plan 3) Electrician will come and do the fixes. I chose to go with the steps. During #2, when Michael explained the cost, I realized it was over my budget but I realized its an investment over longer run and also give peace of mind about safety. Marc was the electrician who came for complete evaluation and he was the one who came for the fix as well. There was another electrician (Terry) who accompanied him to help. Marc was just amazing. Very mindful of our home, leaving no mess behind. I asked plenty of questions during the work and Marc explained everything patiently with a smile. There were some new issues that he uncovered which was not in the list but yet he fixed them with a smile. It took 3 days to finish. They showed up on time and finished on time. The office takes care of everything from getting permits to scheduling appointments. I worked with Ms. Patti and she was amazing. During the 3rd day of the work, some one from ESA inspected our home, so they can issue the Safety certificate for our home, which I can use for home insurance. The work done by Birnie has 5 year warranty for parts and labour, which is amazing. The certificate is transferable too. Overall, I am so glad I chose Birnie. They are very professional and experts in what they do. I would strongly recommend Birnie for any home electric and safety work.

We were so pleased with the work Birnie Electric did for us. From start to finish the workers were informative, friendly, and professional. John worked around our schedule to meet with us to explain the process, and the electricians were punctual, hard working, and even did some extra work when required. What we thought would be a minor electrical job was elevated through our reveiw of safety and some scary discoveries in our home. Although you question the investment the work done by Tom and his customer service skills put any doubts to rest. We are very pleased that we had Birnie come evaluate and than do the entire job.

While the cost seems steep, it was well worth the price! John the Consultant fully explained the test procedures & sensor equipment so you can see what they are checking, and trust the report. I was surprised to find that a high number of switches and outlets were arcing or not grounded, even though they were only a few years old. (Cheaper bulk quantities were purchased and I won't do that again.) The same electrician did the inspection & repair. I am more confident that nothing is unsafe behind my walls, and appreciate the generous warranty. I would also like to add that I worked for Birnie Electric 20 years ago, so knew they were trustworthy.

it took awile approx a month but the service manager did sent a tech to our house at no cost and was sucessful in finding three junction boxes that were drywalled over. so i am happy with that and am glad to see a level of service that seldom exists after the sale. thx very much
