Positives: Igal knows how to proficiently hang pictures, mirrors etc. He is knowledgable regarding hardware, hanging techniques and styles. There is no question he is accomplished in his field of work. He was punctual for each visit and came with all of the necessary tools.
Negatives: Attitudinally, Igal leaves something to be desired. He was a dour and humourless presence in our home. He grumbled about the work, was opinionated in a negative way and kept leaving our house before the job was done, even though the scope of the job was clear from the beginning.
Story: I explained to Igal on our very first phone call that we had many, many pieces of art to hang and that we needed to book him for a full day. Visit 1: I showed him all 45 pieces, with each painting already positioned on the floor exactly below where we wanted it hung. After 5 hours (including a lunch break), he announced he had to leave. The job wasn't done, but we didn't grumble. We did, after all , have a lot of art to hang. We waited 4 days for a second visit. Visit 2: I reviewed, once again, the remaining pieces to be hung. All of the same paintings were still positioned exactly as per Visit 1. After a couple of hours, Igal announced he had to leave. Huh? He knew the scope of the work, so we found this confusing. We waited a full week for him to come again. Visit 3: Igal came for two hours and once again announced he had to leave. We had one painting left to hang and another to adjust by 2" and yet he refused to stay to finish the job. To be clear: we did not ADD any art pieces. The list of 45 paintings (plus one mirror) remained un-changed. We also did not CHANGE where we wanted them hung. We did not even ask for a lot of after-the fact adjustments. We only requested that two pieces be hung slightly higher. Igal altered one and left on Visit 3 without doing the other. We found this behaviour bizarre. We always paid Igal in full at the end of each visit. We were courteous to him. We listened to his opinions and followed his advice. We offered him beverages on each visit. We were not happy with the way we were treated in return. Bottom line: his work is good and his attitude is bad.
