Dear Marlin, I personally would like to thank you for your excellent service, support and knowledge throughout our decision-making process in the purchase of our new window coverings.

We were equally thrilled with the level of professionalism in both the knowledge of available products and the final installation of our chosen shutters.

Overall, the service from Made in the Shade was exceptional; especially with respect to the flexibility around our busy schedule and most importantly the attention to detail.

Sometimes when the price is low, you get what you pay for — or less. With Marlin, the price is low and you get way more than what you pay for.

When I called Marlin initially, he was by the next day with samples and measurements and was so patient as we decided what we wanted. He introduced us to some beautiful blinds that fit our budget (Concept Dual and Shadow Magics) and, within a couple days, was back to us with a detailed quote, breaking down what we would pay for all 20 windows using different styles and what we would pay for each type individually. He then applied the best possible discount and, after promising a three-week installation, he called to say the product was in and asked if he could install them right away — less than three weeks after they were ordered. What a treat! One of our 20 windows is being replaced, but this didn't delay the process. Marlin offered to do the other 19 windows right away, then come back later to do the new window once it's installed.

Marlin is professional and oh-so pleasant to deal with. He truly went above and beyond with our install. When he arrived and was unloading his materials in the pouring rain, I stupidly locked myself out of the house while my baby was napping in his crib. Within seconds, Marlin was on the phone with a local locksmith and, when the locksmith didn't show, he helped me get into the home. Marlin is just an all around good person — reliable, trustworthy and he has so many great connections to other reliable tradespeople. When Marlin left, he thanked me for my business — something that seemed absurd considering all he had done for me.

Honestly, your life will be better with Marlin in it. Ours certainly is. Thank-you, thank-you, thank-you Marlin!

I just want to say how fantastic my new window treatments look!!

You came into my home and listened to what I wanted to accomplish with my blinds and then recommended some choices. I chose a fabric blind for my bay windows in a dark mocha color that matched my walls. They added so much more warmth and elegance to our room.
You recommended a roll up sun shade for my office so I could achieve my goal of deflecting glare while working while still allowing me outside vision. The perfect solution for my needs there as well.
My husband was not there when I picked out and ordered the blinds so he was very impressed seeing my choices when you came to install them.
My neighbors appreciate not seeing me in my jammies anymore as well.

His option of painting my logo right onto the shade to face outside looks great and saved me having to purchase shades plus a window sign. I am writing this review on behalf of "Made-in-the-Shade" - Custom Blinds and Shutters. I had the pleasure of receiving their flyer at my new home and called the owner, Marlin Muylaert to see what his company was all about.

I told him I was looking for shutters for my new home windows and he said he would come by and show me samples and write up an estimate. The shop at home service was great as I didn't have to leave my house. We set up an appointment date and time and he arrived promptly. He came with samples of the shutters, frames and colours. He explained the difference in the nicer shutter which is made by Hunter Douglas and comes with a 25 year guarantee against fading, chipping, breakage or any other problem. The quality of this particular shutter cannot be beat. I obtained a written quote from him with the options for payment and installation. This quote was for the shutters, the installation and the taxes all included so there were no hidden costs. I investigated two other companies offering the same shutter and his price quote was at least $300 - $400 less than the other companies. I called him back to start the order process and only had to pay him half of the total cost. The remaining cost was paid upon installation. He arrived with John and they took all the measurements. He called me approximately 3 weeks later to say the shutters were ready and booked a date to have them installed. He arrived with his installer John who was so knowledgeable with regards to the installation process. John was such a pleasure to deal with and he had all the shutters installed within 1 hour.

We took before and after pictures of the windows and I was amazed at how beautiful the shutters looked. I was extremely pleased from start to finish with the entire process of dealing directly with Marlin, owner of Made-in-the-Shade and his installer John. This was my first time installing shutters and I would highly recommend that if you are looking for quality product, honest people and great service, then you need to give Marlin a call - I guarantee you won't be disappointed.

I am currently a Principal with the Windsor Essex Catholic District School Board. Within my portfolio is a Hockey Canada Skills Academy that our School Board offers at Central Park Athletics in Windsor, Ontario. Our students enjoy learning hockey skills with an on-ice component and then resume their academic studies within classrooms we built on site within the complex.
"Made in the Shade" provided us with stunning blinds that cover our windows within each classroom. These classrooms are not conventional sizes nor are they consistent from one classroom to another. Marlin spent a great deal of time measuring each window and offered much needed advise throughout the process. There are many unique features to these attractive blinds but what I most enjoy is the motivational quotes hand-painted on them. This helps to create a positive climate in the classrooms. The painted messages are school mottos and leadership reminders that are not only motivational but ascetically pleasing.
