I recently purchased my first home in 2015 and I made a very costly mistake by not hiring Jason Chow at Lanron Inspections to perform my initial home inspection. It has been approximately eighteen months since I moved into my new home and I have already incurred several costly expenses related to replacing the roof, repairing a leaking window and hydro flushing a clogged sewage line. In my honest opinion, these large expenses could have been avoided or significantly mitigated if I had hired a properly trained and experienced home inspector from the beginning. On a positive note, I hired Jason for a second inspection and he was able to identify all of the shortcomings from the previous home inspector.
Below are the highlighted services that Jason had performed for me:
Visual Roof Scan - Jason flew his drone helicopter above my house and he was easily able to provide me the recorded footage of all the areas that were required attention. This was a very interesting topic of discussion and I believe that Lanron Inspections is the only company that provides this level of service in the Calgary area. After landing the drone, Jason reviewed his concerns with me and he pointed out that the South facing shingles were significantly more deteriorated than the North facing shingles. This was likely due to poor attic ventilation and a faulty product from the manufacturer. Jason advised me to consider installing a metal roof for long lasting durability and to have proper ventilation to reduce attic temperatures.
Infrared Camera Scan - I had a problem with a leaking window and Jason came prepared to assess the issue by thoroughly scanning the areas around the window, the floor above and below with an infrared camera to isolate the leak. Jason was able to narrow down the area where the water was potentially entering the home and I was able to provide this information to the repair company the following day. The contractor who repaired my home was able to integrate the information that Jason had provided and as a result, my repair bill was substantially reduced.
Overall I am very pleased with Jason and I have recommended him to many of my friends and family because he is exceptionally professional, very well versed home construction and if you have a question, he'll answer it.

Jason had exceptional personal skills and was very thorough in his job. He was quite willing to share his experience and observation with us. He followed up with a telephone call to make sure we were completely satisfied with the project. Unfortunately, there was an error in the billing where we were charged twice. We contacted Jason and he rectified the problem with an e-transfer of funds from his own bank account. We really appreciated his commitment to satisfy our concern as he went the extra mile for us.
