Harmony Basements

Hi, I just want to share my experience with all of you choosing the company for finishing my basement. Not long ago, we decided to finish our basement. After a long search, we found Harmony Basements. On our first meeting with Diego and Lawrence, I was blown away. They planned a 3D computer image for my basement - very professional and detailed. The price was amazing (compared with the other companies), and we started this big project. Seth and Leo came into the picture. Very professional and patient, they were following the whole process and dealing with any small problems on the way. Everything was done on schedule and finished on time as they promised. There was no problem changing a few small things from the original plan. Very clean and professional job, friendly staff and contractors. Over all, our basement was done and turned into an amazing beautiful apartment with a kitchen, office, bedroom, entertainment area, and storage room. Excellent job Harmony Basements! And again, I want to say thank you to everyone who contributed to complete this project and particularly to the Harmony Basement staff. Keep doing the good job :) Strongly recommended!!!

Very friendly individuals to deal with . Attended when they said and arrived daily and on time . Had some post construction issues but they attended and took care of matters . Would recommend their services .

Very happy with the final results of the basement. We were able to use Diego's creative ideas along with our Reasearch to get to the final outcome. I must say that we were picky on many things and asked Harmony to change things during the construction process for which they happily obliged. The 3d design before the actual construction began was the best part I must say. This helps you visualize. During the process we were assigned a project manager who was in-charge of workers on site.
Overall, we are happy and will get work done from Harmony in future as well.

My husband and I are very happy with the work Harmony Basements did in our space. Led by Leo, the crew was on time, worked efficiently and professionally. The end result was exactly as we planned the space. The barn board accent wall looks amazing. We would definitely recommend Harmony to anyone looking for a full basement Reno.

We met Lawrence and Diego for our initial consultation. It was a long meeting but by the end of it we had a 3D rendering of our basement and a price that truly did include everything they said it would. We had met a few other companies with cheaper prices but they were not really all inclusive. One company didn't do any cabinets and used materials that were not even to code. We were more interested in paying for a proper job. I will admit that my husband is a picky-than-average customer as he works in the residential construction industry and there were some things that were not wrong but not to his personal preference and Leo, the project manager, was very receptive to his requests and made every attempt to ensure the basement was exactly as we envisioned. The price included certain finishes and then if we wanted to pick fancier finishes they would be extra. For certain finishes such as the trim and bathroom vanity, we didnt want to use any of their options and they were great to let us bring in our own and credited us for those items. Most of the trades were respectful and clean (only can complain about one individual). I've read review from other companies about how awful the trades treated their home so I was really surprised how clean and respectful they were. The project did take a little longer than expected but now we have a bright, warm playroom, laundry room, bathroom and lots of storage for our family to enjoy for years to come. I would highly recommend using Harmony Basements, they were a pleasure do deal with.

After recently moving into a 30 year old house, I decided to tackle finishing the basement, which appeared to have been slowly deteriorating over time. I got quotes from several other contractors and decided to go with Harmony Basements. The price quoted by them was higher than the other contractors, but I needed a qualified team team that can do it all, including mould growing on the existing insulation, a really bad smell and several foundation cracks, drywall for ceiling and flooring, some carpentry, installing floors, looking after the electrical and vents. It's worth noting that they stayed within their initial quote, and what was payed beyond that where optional add-ons, that I decided to get after the quote.

Am I ever glad I picked them! First of all, they made the process really easy. I just had to select the paint colours and materials and give them a general idea of what I was looking to achieve and that was it. They took care of all details, including getting the build permit. While the construction was underway, nothing needed to be re-done, it was all done correctly the first time.

They repaired six foundation cracks using high-pressure polyurethane and replaced the old mouldy insulation with rock wool insulation. This made an immediate difference: the bad smell is gone, the basement is much warmer temperature-wise and it's sound proof (my basement is a walk-out).

The walls and ceiling were also very well done, to the point were I notice no imperfections whatsoever. They added several pod lights to brighten up the place and the vents were installed were needed.

The flooring they used is made out vinyl. Now in the beginning I had some doubts about it. To me vinyl is a cheap material found in old motels and washrooms. Good thing that with Harmony the selection of floor tiles that you can choose can imitate the look and feel of laminate and hard-wood flooring. In fact, I had a couple of people over and they thought my floor was laminate. I also had their sub-floor installed as an add-on and I'm glad I did, the floor feels much softer and warmer, and is comfortable enough to walk on it with bare feet. The floor is also under warranty, so if my hot water tank were to crack, the flood would not damage the floor.

My final comment is that my basement was transformed from a cold, mouldy, smelly, barely livable pit to a bright, beautiful, elegant living space. It practically looks like a Mediterranean villa now! Special thanks to Leo, Diego and their team for making this a reality.

We recently had Harmony Basements finish our basement. The initial visit and estimate included the development of a VR model that let us "walk through" the basement and see the design before we committed to anything. After a few discussions, we were very happy with their price.

We were very pleased with the materials used and in our choice of finishes that were included in the quoted price - very little was an "extra" from our original quote. The MgO board, sound proofing, and vinyl flooring used has created a great space for kids to play that has been warm even on the coldest days this winter. We had some very specific things in mind for both materials and finishes, including custom installing Ikea cabinets for storage that look like they are true built-ins. The finished product is exactly what we had in mind!

All of the contractors that come to work on the house were very polite and courteous and did quality work.

While no construction project goes perfectly to plan, we had some issues with timing based on window availability and changes to local bylaws, we generally always knew when contractors were coming and the project was completed in good time.

The post-construction support from Harmony has been fantastic. We had a few minor issues crop up and had the Harmony team was responsive and came back to resolve the issues quickly.

While we would have liked to have more communication through the duration of the project, the end product is great and gets a lot of use every day.

Had Harmony Basements finish my basement after searching for the right contractor for about 4 months. I was pleased with the materials they used and the price quoted to finish my basement was within my budget. Although there were hiccups and delays along the way, Leo, the project manager at Harmony was quick and prompt to make sure any problems were rectified. He often times went above and beyond the call of duty to meet our expectations. The workers and contractors were friendly and courteous as well. My family and I are very pleased with the finished product. Thank you to Leo, Diego and the Harmony team.

I had Harmony work on my basement from Oct until Dec 2017. I had to leave my house for work each day but my wife was at home and she said their crew was always courteous and respectful. That was very important to me.

I was impressed with their "foundation guy" who was able to identify and repair several minor leaks that I knew had previously existed in the basement walls. They were vertical cracks that went full length from top to bottom.

They fixed it by drilling into the cracks from inside the foundation and injecting urethane (I think that's what they used) under pressure. Outside of the house in the areas exposed above ground I can see the hardened filler as it was forced through the hairline cracks until it reached the outside wall. I can see it so I feel confident it was done right.

I had an unfinished cold room that they were able to convert into livable space by bringing in electricity and HVAC. Before going with Harmony I had other basement companies look at it. Many were reluctant to get involved with the cold room because of existing water leakage. Our salesperson Diego had zero hesitation and was confident it could be fixed & converted.

I opted to use spray foam insulation throughout the basement and am so glad I did. After running the furnace for only 20 minutes the basement crew would ask us to turn it off. They couldn’t take the heat. A huge difference from before! I’ve since had to close many of the basement registers as it gets hot quickly. I love it!

I found their tradespeople enjoy their work and take pride in it. A few times when I was home in the evening I had one of their workers wanting to show me their work. The tile guy in particular was extremely proud and rightfully so.

About half way through the project we met with Sasha at their showroom to pick our tiles, flooring, bathroom vanity, etc. It was a fun and easy day with no rush or pressure to get things done.

Over the course of the project we did notice a few miscommunications between Harmony and their workers and between Harmony and ourselves. To be honest I found some of the issues frustrating and stressful at the time.

Leo our project manager was always reachable by phone and was willing to set things right. Even without being called he would drop by and do inspections with my wife. A few times he met with me in the evening to inspect together. I really appreciated that. In some cases it was Leo pointing out an imperfection to me that would later disappear. I liked his drive and appreciated that he was easy to get along with.

I made a few changes as things went along. I think the biggest change was that I decided to replace the basement windows after the drywall had been finished. Leo took the surprise calmly and said he would get his window guy to meet with me to see what could be done. The window guy said he would have preferred to work on the windows before the drywall and framing was completed but said he could still do it without damage. It took 2 weeks for the new windows to arrive. He and his partner spent a whole day ripping out the old glass & window frames and installing new ones. It was more work than I thought it would be. I was expecting a lot of mess and scratches but I really have to give credit here. They exceeded my expectations.

Another example was a pot light that I decided to put in the shower after the electrical and drywall was complete. Leo explained the electrician would have to cut a few holes in the drywall to fish wires. I was really nervous about the holes but after they installed the light and patched the holes I can’t see any imperfection. The dry wall guy who did this is a magician. They took their time and did it right.

The end result is that I felt they did a great job. My basement was completely unfinished when they started. I now have a laundry room, utility room, a bathroom and a converted cold room. I don't know if it's standard issue but in my case they used a glass shower enclosure that is a thing of beauty.
