A leaking shower into the room below prompted my getting four quotes from different companies. David's approach struck me as most sensible, informed, and believable. Examples of his previous work and reviews provided more assurance that he could match his tiling skill with an equally good design sense. Once hired, what impressed me further was his forensic and diagnostic techniques as well as his approach to future construction so that problems would not arise in the future. David then assures the quality of his work with his own guarantee, but also that of a third-party insurer. When it comes to waterproofing, that type of assurance with insurance provides good peace of mind.

During the process, we encountered several unforeseen hiccups involving plumbing associated with the bath, but then also with the tile supplier, and then my own change of mind. Not only did David roll with the punches, he volunteered again and again to help solve matters with suppliers, call in favours, and perform tasks outside the normal remit of the job. Most importantly for any client, he kept my job at the top of his priority list and did not turn into the type who, when the job leaves the realm of the expected, starts to disappear to service other jobs or begin new ones.

Finally and so importantly, the quality of the tile work is very high. Grout lines, difficult cuts, perfect joints and slopes matter to him. Epoxy and caulking perfection matter. One of my mid-project decisions involved a shift from large tiles to what amounted to a thousand hand-cuts of glass tile. Not a peep of complaint or reduction of quality workmanship in the endless constancy of cutting and setting, which extended the duration of the job measurably. Indeed, the quality rose with the complexity. He appreciates new challenges but will tell you clearly when something is not possible or isn't something he is comfortable attempting. If he isn't comfortable with it, then no one else should be.

He did is such a clean job he put sheets every year to make sure the job is very well organized and he came every day in the morning on time to start the job

Dave was amazing! As anyone who has dealt with Renos knows, they're not fun. Especially dealing with different people in and out of the house. However Dave was a breath of fresh air. He was professional and detail oriented. He is for sure a master of his craft and takes pride in his work. For example, he was working on a patterned bathroom tile and we ran out of pieces. I suggested using a piece that would it be seen but Dave insisted that the job be done properly. He really knows what he is doing and I would highly recommend him!
