After Martinez Build's outstanding work to renovate our boy's bathroom, install ceramic tile on our laundry room floor, repair two tiles on our kitchen floor, and paint our stairwell, we knew they were the right company to completely renovate our dated master bath. As we did before, we obtained multiple quotes and Martinez Build was highly competitive for quality work we knew we could count on. We worked with Rodrigo to finalize the bathroom design that saw an old, small shower and a whirlpool bath we never used replaced with a large modern shower, a new heated floor, new vanity, lighting, and storage. A much more involved undertaking than the smaller bathroom, Rodrigo and Solomon approached the work with dedicated enthusiasm. Whether removing the existing two layers of tile on concrete and vinyl flooring, or painstakingly installing the new porcelain tile in the shower and across the floor, or easily dealing with the few small pop-up challenges, they were always positive and upbeat. Rodrigo happily obliged our desire to improve the soundproofing between the master bath and our guest room by adding soundproofing panels and insulation. Kevin the plumber and Shauna the electrician were also first-rate and mirrored Rodrigo's positive professionalism. We love our new bathroom! After interviewing multiple contractors, and obtaining quotes from three, we settled on Martinez Build because of the Homestars Reviews, detailed quote, competitive price, written warranty, willingness to work with us to stay in scope and on budget for three separate renovation projects in our home, clear communications, and the sense that we were dealing with good honest people. We weren't disappointed. Rodrigo is a great person, a caring craftsman with a keen eye for detail who cares about the work that he does to ensure his customers are satisfied. We received a clear contract, with staggered payment dates as each project proceeded, and a reserve amount to be paid after completion. He and Solomon worked for just shy of 9 days to completely update one of our upstairs bathrooms (see the before and after photos) and transform it from a homage to the late 1980s, to a bright modern space. They were hands on for all aspects of the project, were at our home for full days, and used an excellent plumber to install the tub and the bath fixtures. They were polite, professional, tidy (as my wife said...you would hardly have known someone was working on our house after they left each day). When minor issues cropped up, Rodrigo proposed ready to implement solutions that only marginally impacted the budget. Just today they started the second project...and it's great to have them back in our home. We wholeheartedly and unequivocally recommend Martinez build.

After our annual service identified a leak in our air conditioner system, we discussed our options with Matt and decided to replace the system entirely with a new Rheem air conditioner. Matt provided quotes for several different systems and again, as we found when we had Wamboldt replace our furnace two years ago, they were the best quotes of the three we sought out. Arranging installation was a breeze and the installers did a great job, working through a terrible day of pouring rain to get the new system installed. It worked great throughout the summer and we were very happy. Further to this, Matt worked with us to understand some limitations in air flow within our house and provided us with some options to address them. Team Wamboldt is outstanding. Was looking for an arborist to trim the large blue spruce at the front of our house. Sent a request to three companies (listed in Homestars) with no answer. Reached out to another three and Patrick from Ottawa Tree Trimming (a certified arborist) was the first to come by to do a quote...the next morning. His quote was the lowest of the three and the online reviews were positive. Tree was trimmed today..exactly the way we wanted it and the front yard was cleaned up beautifully. We would highly recommend Ottawa Tree Trimming.

From the first discussion with Dan where he went over our roofing options, shingles, vents, quality, the process, his team's training by the shingle manufacturer, the warranty, the excellent detailed and competitive estimate, ease of scheduling, to the day and a half it took to complete the job (interrupted by rain), to the final site cleanup (they left everything immaculate) - we couldn't be happier with Bart's Rooftops. Honest, great communication, professional, with first-rate workmanship. We unequivocally recommend Dan and the team.

We used Kovar Contracting for the second time on our house and again were very pleased with their work and service. After a windstorm induced leak in our roof we asked Kovar to come over to inspect things inside after the outside was repaired. That inspection generated a discussion with Scott about attic insulation and revealed the fact that Enbridge was offering a rebate. Scott offered to provide us a quote and help us with the Enbridge paperwork if necessary. We contacted several other companies for a quote for the insulation work and picked Kovar due to competitive pricing and known quality workmanship. On the day, Scott and the team pitched up on time and completed the work, sealing up gaps that ceiling and bathroom fan installers had left, installing or adjusting baffle vents, and plusing up the attic insulation to a full R60. They were professional, efficient, and cleaned up after the work was finished. We highly recommend Kovar.

Decided to replace our 14+ year old furnace with a higher efficiency model (from less than 80 to 96) and use the Enbridge rebate. We sought mulitple quotes from top rated Homestar HVAC contractors and a few others (Costco and Home Depot). We chose Matt and Owen from Wamboldt because: we didn't feel like we were dealing with commissioned salesman; they actually figured out what size furnace we needed instead of using the existing furnace as a baseline or feeding us some garbage about their years of experience; their price was in the same bracket as the lowest quote we received and they added a longer labour warranty; they spent time discussing whether or not we needed to retain the existing combustion air return in our 30 year old house (we did...for multiple reasons including the fact that the water heater continues to require it). Matt was professional, caring, and dedicated to customer service. He responded the next day with his quote and quickly to our queries. After making a decision, we booked the install for a couple of weeks later. It went beautifully. Matt and the two Owens were courteous, followed COVID protocols and left the house neat and tidy. The new Rheem furnace (see the picture) is muuuuuuch quieter and the house is toasty warm. We highly recommend the Wamboldt team and look forward to their return in the Spring for the air conditioner service.

After researching top-rated kitchen counter companies in Ottawa, we shortlisted Granstone as one of three companies from which to solicit quotes. We selected Granstone at the end of the day because of their outstanding service and the fact that they had the lowest quote for our new quartz countertop. Emily was fantastic from the outset...very knowledgeable, very helpful and supportive as we considered options and nailed down a solution. The whole process from start to finish was easy and stress-free. The installation team were true pros - respectful, professional, detail-oriented, and good spirited. The finished product looks great and we could not be happier. We fully recommend Granstone and would use them again in the future.

After receiving several quotes, we selected Tri-Wave to complete the electrical work for our kitchen renovation project - including replacing our old lights with five new low profile LED lights, putting in dedicated circuits for the microwave, the peninsula, etc. Alex was responsive (via e-mail, phone and text), worked with us to understand what we wanted and what needed to be done. His quote was detailed and competitive. Scheduling the work in between phases was easy and they were very accomodating. The electricians that showed up on site were professional, courteous, worked efficiently and cleaned up before finishing up. Their work passed inspection for each phase no problem. Everything functions perfectly and looks great (see photo). We highly recommend Alex and the team at Tri-Wave and will certainly use them again.
