We hired Elite Construction & Renovations in 2018 to do a house modification that included cutting open a wall and installing a walk out door onto a newly lowered patio. Other than a few issues, we were quite pleased with the final result. BUT after the winter we found that bricks under the door sill were disintegrating. Elite showed no interest or ownership to the problem. Eventually the problem was identified as inferior ‘concrete’ bricks in the newly exposed basement wall that were subjected to freeze/thaw conditions. We had to hire another company to dig up the patio, replace the ‘concrete’ bricks with clay bricks, parge and waterproof the whole basement wall under the patio sliding door. In retrospect Elite should have identified the need for this work during the original construction phase, and this would have saved us the cost and the inconvenience of the extra work. We were disappointed in Elite’s lack of involvement in the issue.

Ian, I'm surprised by this review? The work that you had to do after was not part of our contract nor was it something we ever discussed during construction. I don't think it's fair for you to review us on work that we were not paid to do. I do understand your frustration and that's why we helped you so much in getting the masons to come out and help all of us identify the problems. I believe we went above and beyond what you paid us to do.
