Admittedly I was dreading painting my house. 3 floors, all the trim, walls and ceilings. And with Covid, having to live in the house while the painting was happening. I did my research, got 4 separate quotes (3 from Homestars) and ultimately chose Finer Edge. They were not the cheapest, but were in the ballpark. I chose them for two reasons: 1) I needed a large enough crew so the job wouldn't drag out for a month or longer 2) When Bill the sales rep arrived, he presented me a catalog of other houses they'd done, sorted alphabetically by street name. Turns out that 2 of my very close friends had also chosen them in the past and gave rave reviews so that sealed the deal. I gave a deposit and we agreed on a start date. The crew showed up as expected and we worked out a game plan for the house. Tuny was in charge of the main floor/upstairs and Jeff was in charge of the basement. Both crews were very polite and professional and incredibly skilled. They worked around us and were able to pivot on the fly. They were very particular, scrutinized their own work to the point where I really couldn't find anything wrong when the job was complete, other than a small piece of trim in the bathroom with a crooked line that they fixed in 5 min. One thing that I didn't expect was that they completely re-assembled my rooms and cleaned when they were finished. They put everything back where it was (if that was my desire) and even re-connected TVs, cables, etc. They protected all surfaces and really minimized the mess given the size of the job. Very impressive. It was not fun painting my house, and if I'm being honest I was happy when painters weren't arriving at 8 am every day. But I would absolutely hire Finer Edge again and I probably won't even spend time getting other quotes. These guys won't be the cheapest quote you get, but they have very tenured employees who are real pros, who are friendly and take a lot of pride in what they do. You won't be sorry.

I did my research and Window Blinds Direct came up very highly rated and they did not disappoint. The sales team was very responsive via email and provided me a rough estimate to install Somfy motorized blinds on 4 patio doors and two large bedroom windows. Charles came out, brought samples and showed me how they would look installed. He even returned a second time to answer a few additional questions I had. The installation went smoothly and Charles helped program all the home automation for me and spent time showing me how to charge the motors when needed. I love the blinds and I could have paid $3000 more to go with a competitor. The motors are very quiet, the install looks great and my wife and I are very happy. I definitely made the right choice here and would highly recommend.

During a heavy rain I noticed water pouring over my eavestroughs that we causing some water issues in my house. I went on Homestars to search out a company to both clean my gutters but also install screens to keep out debris. Assured Roofing was rated very highly but I wasn't sure if I wanted a roofing company to do the work (vs. a company that cleans eaves). Perry was one of the first contractors to respond and showed up promptly. He measured the house and gave me what I discovered was a very fair quote on the work. He explained what they would do and showed me the exact gutter guard they would install. He explained the differences between the different gutter guards and why he liked this particular product. He directed me to the web site for more information and I found a newspaper article from Mike Holmes raving about this same gutter guard product. So I was sold. Perry and crew showed up ahead of schedule when I wasn't home, so Perry completed the work and then returned the next day to show me photos and collect payment. I was very happy with these guys. They're honest, hard working and take pride in their work. Highly recommend.

Had a basic tree pruning job in the city. Tree in the backyard had broken/dead branches and a tree on my front lawn was encroaching on power lines. I submitted a request for quotes, and Jesse from Canopy Tree Care came out promptly. He gave me a very reasonable quote on the job and ultimately ended up being very competitive price wise. Jesse scheduled for a week out and arrived on time. He carefully moved any patio furniture in the way and was careful not to damage any property. He pruned the tree carefully, removing low-hanging and dead branches but only taking off what was necessary. He cleaned up all the branches and left the property spotless. He also negotiated with the neighbours to go on their property to pick up some fallen branches and cleaned up their yards. Jesse is very courteous and professional and does excellent work. I would highly recommend Canopy.
