Prior to our move I personally packed everything into storage containers and moving boxes, disassembled and wrapped all furniture in cardboard and plastic wrap. I then moved all boxes onto the main floor to a central staging area. Only the furniture that was too difficult to lift remained on the second floor. All garden furniture, tools etc. were staged in the garage in an orderly fashion so as to make the movers job much easier. When the movers arrived, they brought a straight truck and not a trailer as agreed upon. The 2 movers provided proceeded at a snails pace and complained the entire time and were verbally disrespectful toward my wife. I worked for 11 hours solid along side them in an effort to hasten the move along. How difficult could this have been considering I did all the prep work? I even bought these guys coffee and sandwiches for dinner. Toward the end of the move the truck they provided could not hold everything, we had to load up our cars, our friends cars and a TAXI in order to get the rest of our things over to our new home! We had to incur the cost of the taxi when this was clearly Abbeywood Movers miscalculation by bringing the wrong truck for the move. When the move was finally completed the final invoice far exceeded the original quote. We paid the bill as it was late, we were tired and the movers were insistent. We later filed a complaint with the moving company and the Better Business Bureau. We were were offered a $100 dollar refund, this barely covered the cost of the taxi and the meals for the movers. We refused the refund on principal. To top it all off, the movers were questioned by the company owner as to what had transpired. They were less than truthful by saying the house was disorganized and we provided no assistance. Correct me if I am wrong here, but even if I didn’t work for 11 hours straight, I am not required to help, THAT IS WHY I HIRED MOVERS TO DO THE JOB! My experience with this company was absolutely terrible, I will never again use them or recommend them, in fact I will go out of my way to discourage anyone else from using them. The only positive thing I can say about this company is that I will never have to deal with them ever again. If Abbeywood Movers or anyone else wants to question the validity of this review, I have saved all emails that transpired between my wife and the moving company and also all the correspondence with the Better Business Bureau. I will be happy to discuss this with Homestars or anyone else that is considering using this incompetent group of individuals. abbeyWood's operations records do not indicate we moved anyone by the name of John & Cindy from Pickering to Markham. Nor does our customer service department recall any dealings from anyone by those names. We would be please to address their concerns should they contact our office. At all times we strive to provide the service our clients have come to depend upon. With over 40 years in the Toronto market, we feel our service and customer support is next to none.
