We just purchased and moved into our century home on Friday. It was discovered the following Tuesday afternoon that a 19 year old hot water tank had sprung a leak. This was some terrible timing - budgets are tight after a move - especially in Toronto. The basement is finished with a vinyl plank floor, and water was squishing up between the cracks. After dealing with the tank and getting water shutoff, our thoughts quickly shifted from short term damage control to longer term damage control. What will this water do to the basement finishes? He determined that the amount of water hiding under the floor was minimal and suggested how we could mitigate it without any extra equipment or labour. A lesser contractor could have easily taken advantage of the situation but Dino's honest approach meant we could rest easier knowing neither our cashflow, nor our finished basement were in jeopardy.
