I obtained several quotes from electricians with high ratings on Homestars, but ended up choosing Neil for several reasons. First, he responded quickly when I requested a quote via their website. He provided a quote based on the problem I told him I was having. One company wanted to charge me just to assess the situation without fixing the problem. He texted me when he was getting close to arriving at my home, and when he arrived he quickly identifed the problem and fixed it within an hour. During his trouble shooting he asked me for the specifications of the lights and determined that the tranformer was designed to handle up to 4 pucks; I had 5. So the driver was finally failing after three years. Good thing I had purchased a 24 watt transformer for my brand of lights the day before since I thought the flickering lights could be from the transformer. Based on him being there for shorter period than he had anticipated just to replace my transformer, Neil lowered his cost! He is honest, personable and skilled. I highly recommend him.

We recently discovered that our old timer home had more knob and tube than we thought. Soon after sharing this information with our insurance broker, we were told our insurance company wanted us to get an electrical inspection to determine the condition of the knob and tube and report the percentage of old wiring in our home. Since we did not have a regular electrician, we checked HomeStars.com as we had good results for other trades through this website. We sent an email to Silverback Electric based on a 98% rating and Best of 2020 status with several recent positive reviews. Aaron responded to our email within a half hour (even though we had sent it on a Saturday), explaining what he would do to investigate our electrical situation, the cost for the first two hours, the hourly rate if the work took more than two hours and what was needed for a low risk rating for our knob and tube. After a few more emails, we felt Aaron’s up-front information and quick replies made him the right electrician for our inspection. Aaron was available to do the inspection on the day we wanted it done. He arrived on time and removed his shoes without being asked. He was polite and explained what he saw during the inspection. Within two hours, Aaron determined our remaining old wiring was only 26% of our total wiring and was in excellent condition, making our risk level low. We shared his report with our insurance broker and now we will be able to renew our insurance. Thanks Aaron.

Today Milani replaced our water main. What a great experience from getting a fair quote from Derek L about a month ago to Nasip S, Matt K and Nate W replacing the water line and installing a new bib, PRV and shut off valve today. They were friendly, knowledgeable and thorough. I am often anxious when it comes to repairs/renovations and worry about what could go wrong. And indeed this repair had its challenges. For instance when the team dug the trench they realized my property still had a galvanized steel line, which had corroded to the City of Vancouver (COV) water line shut-off valve and could not be removed. I was stressed, but Matt calmly said they would call the city to request that an employee come out to replace the shut-off value. After completing his call to COV to provide the details, he received a call back within minutes to inform him that a COV employee would be at my house within an hour, which turned out to be only 30 minutes if that! Kudos to COV! The three employees were so calm throughout the job and often explained to me what they were doing. Nasip was extremely thorough with all his plumbing work (he even checked his soldering with a mirror to see under the pipes). Matt often checked in with me to ensure I would be happy with the final results, which I am! Nate and I had a nice conversation during his lunch break about life in Vancouver and food. Thanks guys…your actions, expertise and conversations all put me at ease. I will be using Milani for future plumbing needs.

I highly recommend Sunbury Cedar to anyone who wants to hire personable professionals to build an amazing fence. Throughout the entire process when I sent an email to their general information address which was forwarded to proper department by Christine, to getting a phone call and subsequent estimate from Pat, to the building of an incredible fence by Mark who constantly used his balance tool, to the processing of the payment over the phone by Al who immediately sent the PAID invoice to us by email, we have received punctual, polite and professional interactions. Everything Pat promised, he delivered: the quote stated exactly what was going to built and with what materials; he said the materials would be delivered on a Thursday; the fence would removed that weekend; and the new fence would be built on Monday by Mark. The whole project could not have gone any smoother! We have had numerous improvement projects to our old timer house, but this project has to be the only one so far when we did not feel stressed during the process. Sunbury did not cut corners and asked all the pertinent questions to ensure we would be satisfied with the final outcome. This company has hired amazing people who provide true customer service. We couldn't have asked for a better fence. I have shown the before and after photos to my coworkers and already someone has asked for Sunbury's phone number to request a quote to replace a backyard patio! BTW: I found this company by doing a google search; they have an extremely high satisfaction rating...I suggest your read the other reviews.

After being told by another furnace company that my 20 year old furnace needed a new gas valve that would cost $500 and that I should buy a new furnace from them to take advantage of their sale and Fortis rebate, I called Your City Heating and was told by Jeff that my furnace should be fixed with a $129 plus tax cleaning. It was taking 30-40 seconds of "clicking" before starting up. Sure enough after the cleaning and two short repeat visits over the next two days to tweak my furnace, it is running better than ever. Good to know that there is at least one reputable furnace company in Vancouver!
