We had quite a bit of work to do outside when we bought an older home. The front yard lawn was awful and had been resodded twice on top of the old lawn (a no-no), The edge of the garage pad was cracked and broken because of erosion under the concrete pad, and the driveway was the original driveway from the 1980s. We had originally contracted another company but the job that was promised was never even started after three months of waiting. My wife bumped into Alain, the owner of L'Arbrerie Cayer at a craft sale and happened to tell our story. He said that if it didn't pan out with our contractor to give him a call. Are we ever glad we did. Alain was over the day after we called him and gave us an extremely precise estimate. Alain tackled the garage concrete pad repairs and the grass replacement himself, and subcontracted the driveway paving. Because we were having all the work done through him, he said he could either give us a discount or give us a tree for our front lawn. We opted for the tree and actually paid extra to plant a more mature tree; a 23-foot Autumn Blaze maple. Alain showed up the very next day with a diamond saw and started to work. He quickly realized he was going to need more "muscle" and left to rent a jackhammer (no additional cost to us). He then properly rebarred and poured new concrete. Rain delayed us for a few days and then Alain was back with a mini backhoe. He removed all the old lawn, leveled the "bump" that had been created by the sod layering on our front lawn. He then moved some plants we had in the front to our back garden (again no charge for replanting for us) and planted the maple tree. Alain was back the next day and put a good thick layer of top soil and installed the greenest sod I've had the pleasure to see. He then used the backhoe to tear up the driveway. Two days later, the paving crew arrived bright and early with a crew of four and made short work of re-paving. They butted the concrete perfectly to our new lawn without damaging it. All in all, I can't say enough about Alain. He worked hard, kept us apprised of developments throughout the job, subcontracted to reliable people and did wonderful work for us at a reasonable cost. Alain or his crew were then when they said they would be and didn't postpone or delay even a little bit. We couldn't be more pleased with the results and with Alain's work; fast, efficient work and the price was reasonable. We have some stone work that will need to be done in the near future and we will definitely be contacting Alain again.
