I had the feeling I wasn't dealing with a plumbing company but rather a jobber. By this I mean the installer arrived to do the job but needed to assess the materials needed. It was like they arrive, assess, leave and get the materials to return and do the job. Most plumbers would have things like basic pipe and fittings in their truck. The fellow who did the install had none of that - not even plumbers putty in his bag. That said, the job was done well and at a price that was reasonable. It just left me a little nervous that I wasn't really dealing with a ticketed plumber. Cash, cheque, e-transfer accepted but no Visa or M/C.

We had a number of companies contact us because of our request through HomeStars. We had 4 quotes done of which two were grossly overpriced and two were about the same. We finally decided on Universal. From the estimator, to work crew/installers and office personnel we couldn't have asked for a better experience. The crew was friendly and you could tell they new their business. We replaced all of our light fixtures (approx. 15), and had a couple of plugs and light switches changed out etc. The crew even spotted a light fixture put in by a previous owner as not meeting code and addressed that problem while doing the install. Until the issue to do with code they would have completed everything in about 9 hours (=$115/hr. incl. service call fees and taxes). I find this price to be fair especially when compared to the two that were overpriced coming at $2-$2500. Story here is do your homework because we would have been taken advantage of had we gone with two of the four who provided quotes. We'd be happy to use this company again and refer them to friends and family.

I was contacted by On Site Contracting within 15 minutes of requesting a sliding glass door repair. An appointment was made for early the next morning. Dallas, the Owner, arrived at the requested appointment time. I thought the rollers were shot in the glass door but after review, Dallas said no need to replace them. They only needed cleaning and lubricating. After a short time working on them he had them rolling freely. Such an easy fix so we had him do the other slider as well. I'm so than thankful for Dallas' honesty. Getting on in years the sliding doors are a little too heavy for us now. He saved us considerably on the bill. We called two companies that were booking out two months. One quoted the cost of sending 2 men @ $95/hour + parts and another who quoted $100 + parts. Thanks Dallas! We'll be sure to refer you business when the time calls for it and we'll keep you in mind to do our staircase railing sometime in Jan. 2022
