My attic had no air intake due to blocked soffits in the eaves of the house. This caused the attic to heat up too much in summer and destroy the shingles, which curled and became brittle over time. I contacted several companies that installed soffits, but no one wanted to do the labour of unblocking the soffits. Chinook answered our call though, and Dean came to our house. He told us that to remove the old plywood that existed under the metal soffits he would have to remove the soffits, fascia and eavestroughing (gutters) which are all interconnected, and then install new product. A week later Mathieu came, and after removing the old material and sawing out the plywood all along the front and back sides of the house, he discovered another problem: 2x4 wood blocks covered the vent spaces leading into the attic. Mathieu struggled almost 5 hours to clear the 54 openings. Whew! After that was accomplished 2 more crew members joined Mathieu to quickly and efficiently install the new product. The job took about 18 hours total, and everything was left clean, plus my flowerbeds were not damaged at all. I am happy with Chinooks work. All the workers were knowledgeable, skillful, and accommodating. I watched them unblock the soffits and feel confident they did a good job. Next an attic insulation company will come to remove the old insulation, install baffles in the unblocked eaves, and re-insulate the attic to R50. Thank you Chinook Exteriors for taking on a job many other companies did not want to do.

Rob and his crew at Marine West Construction built the 2.5 meter cedar fence we share with our neighbours plus both our alley side fences. We are so happy with the quality of the work. The fences are very straight and well constructed. We like the meticulous cuts and detailing , with the cedar lateral boards nicely placed to take advantage of the beauty of the wood grain. We purchased the wood ourselves this spring - 5/4 “ x 6’ “magnum cedar decking”, and felt that Rob gave us a very fair price on the labour. We had a specific design we wanted, and Rob’s liaison person, Shane, worked with us to ensure the fence would be built to our exact specifications. We really appreciated the time and effort Shane spent to ensure we would get the exact fence we wanted. The project took 3 days total and began on time. The workers were skilled, and respectful of our perennial beds, not disturbing any more ground than was necessary. Rob listened to all our concerns and addressed everything. His crew uses materials wisely so there is very no wastage. This is the second fence Rob built for us. I wish to emphasize that Rob acts with integrity and honesty, and is an excellent problem solver. We feel lucky to have found such a good contractor. Thank you, Rob.
