A company rep called to say they were doing free duct inspections in my area. A rep came, took photos and gave me a price for cleaning and a permanent furnace filter. A tech and a salesman came the next day, cleaned the ducts and told me there was mold forming in the air duct and that he would sell me a HEPA furnace filter valued at $4000 for $995 (the last one left of last year's model)to eliminate the problem. I agreed and an electrician/tech came the next day and installed the unit and the electrostatic filter. It was a lot of money but when compared with the competitors' prices he showed me, appeared to be fair. Time will tell if it was a good investment.
