When our grandson decided to remove asbestos drywall from the ceiling of his recently purchased home, he did not expect to find the sheeting of his flat roof to be rotted and leaking, He made this discovery in November during heavy rains. He contacted me for suggestions of what to do. The first thing that came to mind was to somehow patch it or cover it with tarps or whatever to stop the water from coming in at least until the problem could be properly addressed when the weather turned better. I contacted some local roofers here around Port Moody but they were unable to do anything on such short notice especially during the rainy weather. I then contacted Derek to see if there was something he could recommend not expecting him to actually make a trip from Coverdale to Port Moody to take a first hand look at what is a relatively small house. Derek met us at the house the same day, immediately recognized the emergency that it was and had a quote to us by the next day to replace the entire roof which was what unquestionably had to be done. The first thing his team did was construct a roof frame and cover it with plastic to allow them to be under cover in the rain, hang lights under it to allow them to work longer hours than what the short days at this time of year permit, and pulled out all the stops to get the job done as quickly as possible. This included re-sheeting the entire roof due to the rot and leveling it to get rid of the pooling that was an issue with the original roof. The end result is an example of first class workmanship with total cleanup during and after the job was completed being performed by a crew of experts. Thank you Derek, Kim and crew. George Balzer
