Jason did a great job filling in an old door with brick, he was professional and you could tell he had a lot of skill when it came to making sure the new bricks aligned with the old ones and fit within the old door opening.

I had my driveway torn up close to 3 months ago and Wilson finally came back to pave it recently. I liked that they didn't have to meet in person to do a quote, they left it in my mailbox and the price was good. I'd seen their signs all over the area so I figured they were a fairly reputable company, despite their lack of reviews here on Homestars. The driveway itself seems like it was done well, I suppose time will tell how it holds up. What really bothered me was the terrible clean up job they did. I had new interlock put in about a month ago and Wilson left chunks of asphalt all over the stones. I had to ask twice for them to scoop up the asphalt that had gone under my fence and landed on the patio in my backyard. They left the water hose laying on the ground (it was neatly wound on its reel when they arrived), they had to step over it to get not the backyard but still didn't bother to return it back to the reel. After they left I had to spend an hour picking up and scraping off my interlock so the asphalt didn't stain it or harden onto it. They also got asphalt all over my grass, sidewalk, neighbours lawn and street and didn't bother cleaning it up. I don't know if it's because it was the last job of the day and everyone was in a hurry to leave but I was unimpressed.

Kurt and his crew did an awesome job, I hired them to do interlocking, regrading, resodding, tree planting, and some fence post and gate work. From the initial meeting, Kurt understood the look I was going for and offered suggestions based on that and my budget. The Distinctive team arrived early in the mornings, worked through long (and hot) days, and always left the work site clean. I'd definitely recommend Distinctive Designs Landscaping to anyone looking for work to improve their outdoor spaces. Kurt was professional, knowledgeable, friendly and hard working. I'll update the photos with better ones once the driveway and deck are done!

Eco Choice had done work on a house across from my parents and they recommended Gabe and Eco Choice, and their work looked great, which is why I contacted them. Gabe from Eco Choice was extremely friendly and knowledgeable. The quote I got from Eco Choice was the first and only one I got for replacing my drafty, poor quality windows. The quote from Gabe was much lower than I was expecting. I was very impressed with the installers, they were courteous and the clean up was spotless. They showed up early (which was fantastic, normally contractors show up late), installing the 8 windows took about 8 hours. I'm very happy with my new windows, finally I have screens that fit and can no longer hear everything through closed windows. The only thing I'd pass along is the house smelled very chemically after the install, I'm assuming this was from the caulking, spray foam and vinyl. The smell was enough to irritate my dogs airways. I'm sure this could happen with any company and probably isn't avoidable, but it's something I never thought of so I thought I'd pass that along. Update June 2014: Since having the windows installed about a year ago, the caulk on the inside has cracked and the vinyl on the exterior of the windows has cracked in the corners. When I contacted the company, they were no longer very friendly or helpful and very vague when trying to get the manufacturer to come look at the issues. Will update when/if the issues are resolved.

David did some exterior painting on my house, including my porch, trim, foundation and concrete steps. I was disappointed with the clean up of the project, old paint that had been scraped off wasn't swept up and was left all over my deck and window sills. A few days after the work was completed, I noticed the paint was bubbling on my concrete steps. I let David know and he immediately got back to me and said he would be back that week to fix it. It's now over a month later and my steps still haven't been fixed. I've sent numerous emails and left voicemails but despite him saying he'd come back, he now seems to be ignoring my requests for him to let me know when he'll be fixing my steps. David came recommend by my realtor, I've let her know my experience so this company doesn't do this to other people. Update January 2014: Still haven't heard or seen David, just wanted to provide an update so people realize he isn't a contractor you can trust.

I had collected quotes for my garage roof a year ago and all of them were more than I was willing to pay. I decided to try King Street roofing this year, filled out the form on their website and within a few days, I had a quote in my mailbox. It was much less than the previous quotes I got and they could do the work within a few days. I decided to proceed, sent them an email with my colour choice and they came out and did the work two days later. I'm more than happy with my new garage roof, it looks great. My only complaint was although they cleaned up outside of the garage, the inside of the garage was covered in chips from the old shingles. I'd definitely recommend this company, I liked that I didn't have to spend time meeting with them for the quote, work, etc. Some people may want a company that will meet with them and go over everything and show them samples, but this was a small job and I knew what I wanted so I was happy.
