Technician (Yuri) arrived on time with a smile! Work was completed efficiently and cleanly. Yuri took the time to explain some potential issues to watch out for in the future (such as the flame sensor failing) and what the symptoms of such a failure would be. I learned about the problem with radon gas pooling in basements last year and was shocked I had never heard of it before! I was even more surprised to learn that 16% of all lung cancer deaths in Canada are directly attributed to radon gas! My husband has a lot of cancer in his family and recently had an Aunt diagnosed with advanced stage lung cancer. She never smoked a day in her life. We want our home to be as healthy as possible for us and our young children. We bought a kit from Radon West to test our home over the winter (which Health Canada recommends ALL Canadians do). Our level was slightly higher than 200 Bq/m3 which is the level at which Health Canada recommends mitigation. Karin, Colin and Renata at Radon West are absolute class acts. I have never encountered more professional, helpful and dedicated people. Every question I had was answered thoroughly, and most importantly, with the science to back it up. My husband and I decided to go ahead with the process of sub-slab depressurization which draws the radon gas out from the soil surrounding our foundation, stopping it from seeping into our basement and getting trapped there, accumulating to dangerous levels. The installation process was meticulous and Colin and Renata left the area spotlessly clean after finishing. Our levels went from 211 Bq/m3 to 30 Bq/m3 after mitigation. I should also mention that I am EXTREMELY sensitive to vibration noise in my environment. Since there is a fan actively drawing air through the pipe at all times, there is slight vibration noise from the system. Colin visited the house on numerous occasions tweaking the installation until I was completely satisfied; not just willingly, but happily! I can't recommend these guys highly enough. If only there were more contractors with this kind of integrity and dedication!

Our 4 year old tankless hot water boiler was showing signs of a leak, which was confirmed by the plumber on arrival. $79 call out fee seemed reasonable. Flat rate charges for repairs. Ours didn't exactly fit the schedule for work being required, so he had to "pick the most appropriate" off the list. No parts required, just removing the pipe, cleaning the parts, resealing and replacing. $577 total with tax. Took less than 2 hours of work. I went with this company because I've met the owner personally in an unrelated situation and felt I could trust his employees to do a proper job. The technician/plumber was super helpful and friendly and the job seems to have been done well. The price stings though, and I can't help but feel that nearly $300/hr is a little too steep. I would hesitate to call on this company again, especially for a small job (though I wasn't sure it would be small at the time!).
