This company was quick and efficient in getting me a very quick and desirable quote... however that is where the "good" stops.
Before my move, my ex-partner used their services to move her belongings a week before mine. On moving day, they took 2 hours to load up her stuff and while there was no mention of it in the quote, they wrote on the bill "* Four Hour Minimum" , essentially doubling the bill price for that day... HUGE RED FLAG to start....
Now for my move a week later....
1. This Hamilton based company charged me 45min - 1h just to drive from their Hamilton office to my Hamilton address...
2. The quote was for 5 hours and the person who did the walkthrough said it was a pretty easy job. In the days between the quote and moving day, I moved all boxes to the main floor to assist in ease of moving (I worked for a moving company years ago and know the ropes)... other than an unfortunate need to unload my garage items from a less than ideal position, there wasn't much and the truck LITERALLY had the ramp connect to my front step for ease of offloading.... but we'll get to that in a moment
3. There was an unfortunate 2 hour wait for my keys to be delivered in which the movers sat out front of my new house smoking and waiting... now I understand they need to get paid, but they weren't working and there is NO WAY a person should be charged $285 per hour for this. Especially when they held my ex-partners belongings for 1 week for $100 total... That would have been an acceptable fee to me for the 2 hour wait as well, or at least to pay for the movers hours (I can assure you they were NOT being paid $285/h between the 3 of them)... another red flag.
4. My bed and an expensive glass desk were so poorly put back together (parts forced on backwards, bed literally fell apart as it was not tightened) I had to disassemble them and put them back together myself... again, at $285/h that was a lot of money wasted.
5. Boxes were stacked any which way and some being crushed under the weight of others with no regard as they tried to empty out the truck as quickly as possible... It felt like it was more because they just wanted to go home than out of any regard for my final billing time...
6. Oh and that 5 hour quote? I was charged for almost 12 hours! Now, I know there was a 2 hour "Key Wait" and 7 hours would have also been "acceptable" with all things being fair. However after discussing with the company, they decided to deduct 1.5h from my bill... which, if you include the additional padded "time to return" from my new Hamilton address to their Hamilton based business, they essentially comped me for time that shouldn't have been on the bill in the first place and my bill was miraculousy DOUBLE the quote... see a pattern here?
The movers themselves were courteous and other than the unfortunate assembly issues, moved stuff as they were paid to do. However this review is 100% about the policies of the management who seemed to want to lure me in with a favourable quote (which they did) but completely disregarded said quote on the day.... I talked to them on the phone several times and was met with excuses and a "well that's life" attitude.
Please, if you're considering a Hamilton mover, BE AWARE of how they do business and don't get left in the lurch like I was....
