landscape work in back yard including stone cutting.
Met with contractor and agreed to project work. Deposited one third of the job quote and received some stone in November. Three months later, the work had not started due to weather and the contractor refused to provide an spring estimate on the start. In fact he told me it was not my business to chase him down for a start date since he could start at any moment (short winter thaws included!). Upon termination for his insolence he stated he would keep the deposit of 7300 for wrongful dismissal. Small claims ensueing.
- Approximate cost of services:
- $30,000.00
- Any advice to offer fellow homeowners facing a similar project?
- Deposits in trust only or none at all with a schedule of payment based on work completed. If they can't deal with a credit line on their own supplies, chances are they are crappy business people themselves and their work reflects their business practice. it's that simple. The job was then completed to exceptional standards in this vain of payment for somewhat less than the first quote.
