2 extremely large overgrown Norway maple trees were in need of pruning. Recently one large branch broke off and we were very concerned this would continue and potentially harm people or property I got 4 separate quotes. 3 of the 4 were good in my mind and around the same cost estimate but decided upon goodwood based on a very thorough site inspection and recommendations, combined with homestar reviews. The site inspection was followed up with a detailed email quote. We selected a day for the job. A reminder notice came from goodwood a couple of days in advance, goodwood arrived at the date and time agreed upon. The work was executed precisely as promised in a safe, professional manner. Wanted lennox forced air natural gas furnace to replace still working but noisy and inefficient one stage furnace. Am a do it yourselfer when I can and quite particular if I have to hire work out. Had 3 on site quotes. All prices roughly the same but selected core temp based on product knowledge and quality of quote including the fact same fella (Richard) would be doing the work. New furnace (lennox modulating) installed September and has been operating wonderfully now that it is cold. Very quiet which is important yo us as tv room right beside furnace room, and the modulating fan model makes the house feel warmer at the same temp setting as old furnace. Install day went exactly as promised. Highly recommend Richard and core temp . When hiring out any work for your home always suggest the homeowner be available as small issues requiring on the spot decisions inevitably arise. We never imagined how much joy a new furnace would bring us. My wife especially likes being able to adjust the furnace via iPad from bed or her phone.

I decided to renovate my backyard and be the subcontractor. I did some of the work myself and hired out carpentry for fence, interlock and low lighting. I have a small backyard and wanted high quality and lasting materials used. I also have done a lot of research on low voltage lighting. I came to the conclusion that many lights were of very poor quality and would be broken in a year or two. The poor quality lights also don't look very professional (ie. you can see the light). In my opinion a good job is where you don't see the light source only the light beam. I heard about DC lighting thru a friend and had derek come by for a consultation and quote. In addition to the ideas i had - he had some additional suggestions that in the end made the finished product even better. We agreed on the placment and number of lights (4 uplights made of brass, 3 downlights made of copper and the transformer type), set an installation date and price. I ran some of the low voltage cable provided by derrick myself during some of the construction phase which save some time during the light install. In the end derrick completed the work on time, on budget and the final product is even better than i had hoped it would be. Low voltage lighting is something i always wanted and am now thrilled. Recommend you consult a lighting specialist early in your planning process to ensure running of the wires is done as efficiently as possible. Total cost of my job was less than 1500 dollars. I believe this is much less expensive than a larger low voltage light company and very much enjoyed derrick's professionalism, promptness and attention to detail. Rossman roofing replaced the shingles on both halves of a semi at 1 and 3 Isleworth avenue. They also put an additional layer on our flat roof and reshingled a garage. All old shingles were removed, ice and watershield installed, and premium shingles used - recommended by Jake. We are thrilled with the result. We had several quotes on this job - found prices were all over the map, as well as trust factor all over the map. Jake from rossman came in with a very competitive price (matched the lowest price) but more importantly appeared to be very competent and professional and appeared very trustworthy. He told us what he believed we needed to do and how he would do it. His quote was written, thorough, simple to understand. In fact he was the only one to go up on the roof and look without being asked. All other quotes did it from standing on the ground. This is itself showed me he cared about the job and to be honest - not lazy. His crew was slotted to do the work on friday of last week. Due to the rain forcasted in that afternoon - he decided to only do the garage. Great choice as the rain did come and would have been problematic. He arrived today (monday as promised) first thing with his crew and completed the house portion of the job. On returning home from work today with about 2 hours left in his job - jake invited me up to the roof to watch them work. What did i see - hardwork, quality work, quality products, quality tools.
