We went to Homestars to read reviews on companies that install air-conditioning systems because we've used this site before when we had renovations that needed to be done and were very happy with the renovation contractor we got from reading the reviews here. Since Westmount Heating got rave reviews and lots of them, I called them for an estimate. Laurenzo came, took a look at our house and suggested we get a heat pump since that was the simplest system for our needs. We knew that getting the A/C installation wasn't going to be cheap and from the reviews we'd read here online, we decided that the quote was a fair price and we'd go with Westmount without checking any other company out. We got a heat pump system with 3 wall units for the upstairs bedrooms and one for the downstairs great room. Laurenzo and his brother came and installed the A/C promptly and our units looked great on the walls. The system was quiet and efficient. We were very happy to be able to sleep in our own rooms when the weather got warm. What really is the measure of a company though, is what they do when things go wrong. A week after we got the A/C, it stopped working. Needless to say, we were not happy! We were worried that since everything was paid for, we may not get the service to get the A/C running again. But Laurenzo made the time to get things working again. After testing our unit, he discovered that we got a lemon & he quickly replaced that and worked hard to get our system working. He even gave my husband and I, each a bottle of spirits as an apology. Our A/C ran smoothly after that & we enjoyed cool summer nites sleeping in our own bedrooms this summer. I would not hesitate to recommend Laurenzo and his company to do work in your home. He takes great pride in his work and his customer service.

We hired "Your Reno Crew" because of the great reviews on this site. We just moved into our house & wanted the 2nd floor extended right across to the entranceway so no one could fall over the existing railing down to the main floor. Gary came by our house, we told him what we were thinking of & asked if it was possible. Plus we had a number of small projects we wanted done around the house because we aren't DIY'ers. Gary got back to us right away with a detailed quote and a time estimate. Once we hired the company, we were introduced to Dave the project manager & things got underway. They had to change plans for the floor extension because a support beam in the house wasn't where it was supposed to be, but that wasn't their fault. When it was all said & done, the new area looks GREAT. The painters & electrician they used to complete the project were very professional & cleaned up after themselves every time they were done for the day. Dave was very good at keeping us in the loop about who was coming in to work & when. He also took care of all the other smaller projects we needed done in the house. We asked Dave about security screen doors too. He looked into it & suggested a company that could do it for us. We are VERY happy with quality of their work and will definitely use them again when we need something else done. They do exceptional work and we felt the price was very fair.

We've used TOPS for our plumbing needs for over 10 years. We have since moved out of our 75 y.o. home in Kitsilano, but I wanted to do a review for Doug because he did such great work & took care of our plumbing needs for so long. He replaced our hot water tank, fixed & replaced pipes & toilets, etc. He was always friendly reliable & never left a mess after he was done. Thank you Doug! We wish you were in the Valley!
