I called Rick for a non-urgent repair for my basement fridge. In spite of the fact that I wasn't in a hurry he came over a few hours later and was able to diagnose the problem - a blown compressor relay. He had the part and had it fixed in no time. I was very impressed by the service and would definitely call on him again. Thanks Rick!

Last November we started looking for a new insulated garage door, in the hope that it would help make the family room above the garage a bit warmer in the winter. The door we were replacing was painted black, which is a colour not widely available in steel insulated garage doors. We really like the look of the black door though, so as we went through the process of getting estimates and talking to different contractors we couldn't help but feel disappointed that we were going to have to settle on a drab colour or a door painted after it was manufactured. Based on their Homestars rating, we called All City. Donovan came to the house and was very professional. He was very patient with all of our questions, especially about colour and style and why black doesn't work on steel insulated doors (the metal delaminates from the insulation over time because of the heat). He recommended a cherry wood finish, which would go great with our red brick house. He showed us pictures of a similar job he did, and invited us to the Richards-Wilcox showroom to see the door. We went to the showroom and were impressed by the selection and the variety of styles. In spite of some reservations by my wife, we went ahead with the cherry wood finish door. Donovan and Paul came to install the door on a -15 degree day in January. They were quick and professional, and the cleanup was excellent. The door is beautiful! My wife loves it now too. Last summer, we started looking for a roofer to replace the asphalt shingles on our 17 year old house. We had 5 estimates done, some from the big box stores and others from roofing contractors. Through this process we had decided on what make and style of shingles we wanted, but had a tough time finding a contractor we could trust. We were ready to pick one of the five, one who we thought had a good reputation. Then we heard about Homestars on the radio. The roof was done last September. The crew was very professional and they took their time and did the job right. They had no problem with me going up on the roof to see what they were doing. It took them a day and a half to do the job and it looked fantastic when it was finished. They did a good job cleaning up afterwards as well. Now, fast forward to late April of this year, when we had that freak wind storm come through Mississauga. As luck would have it, a couple of capping shingles blew off the roof. I went up there to make sure there wasn't any other problems and there wasn't it seemed. I called Jerry, and in spite of the fact that weather damage isn't covered by the warranty, he said he would send someone over in a couple of days to look at it. That same afternoon someone came to the house, replaced the lost capping shingles and inspected the roof to make sure everything else was OK, and didn't charge me a dime. That's what I call service!
