Jay at Magnum Opus provided excellent service and follow-up. The price was a bit lower than others who quoted me, as well. I had runners installed up two full flights of stairs. It was done quickly and the attention to detail by the installer was impeccable. He was meticulous. I accidentally overpaid and Jay was quick to notice it and let me know, refunding me the overage right away. I honestly never would have noticed. That type of integrity is notable! So appreciated. Would definitely recommend Magnum Opus.

It was the long weekend and I was desperate for help as my washer was leaking everywhere each time I ran it. To be stuck without a functioning washer is not doable in my house with three kids, but thankfully I contacted High Tech for a quote and they replied IMMEDIATELY (again, on the long weekend) and said they could help. Atiar showed up the NEXT DAY, even a few mins early for the 4-6pm window he provided and put a new gasket/boot seal on my washer and cleared out a bunch of debris that had built up. My hero! I will call High Tech first, every time. Reasonably priced, FAST, FRIENDLY, and EFFECTIVE service! What more could you want?

Three Bros did what other roofers would not. We had a few estimates (some outright refused the job because of our proximity to other homes and the pitch of the roof) and their price was definitely competitive, but they also followed up when they said they would, did the work in one day (even though it was dark when they left), cared about the clean-up and did what ended up being a very difficult job with no complaints and with complete professionalism. Our house is very close on both sides to our neighbours and this roof was up on the third floor. The weather did not cooperate either, making it impossible to start as early as they planned (hence the darkness when they left for the day). Not an easy feat! One of the “bros” was always on site - they take their business seriously and pride themselves on integrity and a job well done. Would definitely recommend. Honest, hard-working, and fairly priced. I was very worried about buying my new furniture from Elte after reading all the terrible reviews about their delivery screw-ups, missed deadlines and poor communication. When I spoke to the salesperson to get her thoughts on furniture for my living room I was very candid about my reservations. Apparently Elte has made a lot of staffing and philosophical changes over the past year or two and now they're just waiting for the proof of their good efforts to be in the pudding. They needed to earn back the public's trust, one positive experience at a time. Our salesperson was very helpful and worked hard to think of options that would work with our slightly "difficult" but beloved area rug. We took the plunge and ordered 2 armchairs and a couch. I was very nervous. I told her that with respect to delivery times, they should just be honest with me. If they weren't going to be delivered for 6 months, that was fine as long as I knew what to expect. This was back in October 2012. She told me that delivery would not happen before the holidays, but for sure by February. No problem, I thought, as long as I know. Well, not only did the furniture arrive before February, I had it in my house for the holidays. I even had to delay delivery because it was ready so much earlier than expected! A great problem to have. My salesperson followed up with me immediately to see how it went and make sure I liked it. Since then she has sent me notifications of upcoming sales and promotions. Great communication! They have even hired a third party to conduct a phone survey to ensure they were moving the needle in terms of customer satisfaction. They are clearly making a serious effort to earn back an excellent reputation. We all know they have the widest selection and some of the best stuff, but it's great to know the customer service side of things is there too. Thanks, Elte!

Anyone with a home over a hundred years old dreams about having a contractor they can call on to help them with the many things that need to be done to their property over time. Someone who is honest, thorough, and meticulous. Someone who can help them realize the long-term vision for their home. We feel we have all this and more in Jim/Reach Restoration. Jim has done work for us in the past and anytime we need something done, we always try calling him first to see if it's something he can do and is available for. In the present case, we actually held off on executing our reno because Jim said he'd be able to do the work. We waited until he was available to start, rather than go with another contractor we may not have trusted as much who may have been able to start earlier. The work we had done was to reduce the size of an existing door opening to accommodate doors we had on hand. They also had to demolish the existing built-ins in a small room adjoining our master bedroom and drywall and plaster the area, adding baseboard and trim to the room. The work was done beautifully, no surprise, and Jim himself came back more than once to check the work and add some finishing touches. This was a small reno that was very fussy in nature. It took a lot of time to complete because of the nature of the work, so some contractors may not have been willing to even take it on. There was really no glory in this project, at least for those doing the work. Not "sexy" work at all!! For us, the result was a MUCH more usable space that is attractive and functional and built to last. Jim feels like a long time friend to us. My 2 year-old still asks "where'd Jim go?". I think he misses him!! Not to worry, kid, we have another small project that he's agreed to come do this week or next. I have to fight the selfish side of me who wants to keep Jim all to ourselves in order to write this review. Jim is awesome. His team is terrific. What more can I say but thanks?

We had the carpet replaced in three bedrooms and from start to finish Victorious was a breeze to deal with. Mark came to my home twice: once to do the initial estimate and show us some samples, and the second to finalize the measurements. He was quick and accurate. His communication was exceptional! Any calls or emails were met with immediate responses. Much appreciated. The install went very smoothly, too. Can't believe one guy was able to do it all by himself!! Overall we are VERY happy with the carpet and the service we received from Victorious. The follow-up has been great. It is clear that Victorious has a sincere interest in ensuring customers are happy and not just short term. Mark told me they would be following up in the future as well to ensure we have remained satisfied! I can easily see why they came so highly rated on Home Stars. I don't look anywhere else for referrals for contractors because we've had so much success relying on this website! Thanks to Mark and the team for a terrific experience.

After my previous excellent experience (see my other review...), I hired Cooper Bros to reupholster my antique settee. They let me borrow their fabric sample book to take home so I could see the swatches with the rest of my furnishings/decor. They were EXTREMELY patient as I laboured over the decision of which fabric to choose. Once chosen, they set to work in both reupholstering my settee to return it to its former glory and doing a touch-up to the finish. It looks great and is now, once again, a piece I can be proud of in the entranceway in my home! Thanks, Cooper Bros!

I'm almost reluctant to write this review as I don't want others to buy up all the great merchandise!! West Elm consistently offers bedding of excellent quality and has a great selection - including many organic options, as well. The best part is that despite the quality and the beauty of the prints, the bedding is INEXPENSIVE! I'm talking $55 for a duvet cover! Very impressive - will definitely return. My collection is expanding lots, thanks to West Elm!

I'd heard many people tell me that this was the best place to buy fabric in Toronto, now I see why. The selection, service, advice, quality - all surpassed my expectations. I will definitely return for future fabric needs!!!

We went with Superior after reading some good reviews elsewhere online. We knew the work had to be done right because we had tons of drywall and plaster dust all over the house following a major renovation. We were not disappointed! My husband was here when the fellow came to do the work and he was so impressed with how the guy took the time to explain to him what he was doing and why he was doing it. He answered all of my husband's questions and was courteous, professional, and a pleasure to deal with. I couldn't believe it when I came home and my husband said he'd been WOWED by a duct cleaner! The work, of course, was top-notch. This is truly a great company to deal with and we'd definitely use them again without hesitation. Thanks, Superior!

Soho (now located on Roncesvalles) is an excellent little shop with funky frames and gifts (as well as custom framing, which I will be going for here in the near future). The staff are very friendly and helpful. Much better than some of the big-box stores I could have gone to for the same purchases. Will definitely shop there again and, as I mentioned, have some custom work done there, too!

Was very pleased with the selection of plants at this location of Sheridan Nurseries. I got great advice from one of their arborists when deciding what kind of tree to select for my backyard, as well. We planted the tree last summer and it's thriving beautifully. I've had no need to take them up on their guarantee of replacing plants that don't make it within 2 years of purchase. Would definitely buy from this garden centre again.

Wildrose came to level our patio area, dig a post hole and re-lay our patio stones. The young men who came to do the work did the job exactly as I had asked (even in adverse weather conditions), worked very hard and had a smile on their faces the whole time. It took exactly the amount of time they said it would. My only criticism is that it took a long time between quote/decision to go forward and execution of the work. Wildrose took a while to get back to me and there was some unnecessary phone tag. Overall I'm happy with the work they did, though, and will enjoy the new layout of my patio stones very much this summer!

We trusted the cleaning of our old Indian and Persian area rugs to Babayan's and are so happy with our decision. We got such a good feeling from them that we decided to have them repair the fringe on one of the carpets. They did an EXCELLENT job and although it wasn't ready when they originally said it would be they communicated with me extremely well to ensure I was aware of what was happening every step of the way. Wonderful customer service. Incidentally, the only reason the carpets weren't ready on time is because the vendor they usually bought the fringe from went out of business, so they had to source it from another company. They were able to get a very close match to what I had originally asked for and it didn't take much more time to get it back to me. I was very happy with the finished product and would definitely have Babayan's do all future work on my carpets. Would recommend them highly to anyone else looking to have precious rugs cleaned by trusted professionals!! I'm sure they do the easy stuff just as well too... :)

The owners of Feather Factory are lovely to deal with and, most importantly, their products are a dream (pun intended!). We couldn't imagine a more comfy bed set up. I recommend this store regularly as it's the only place I would ever go for pillows, etc. If you are looking for high quality, reasonable prices, and EXCELLENT craftsmanship, look no further than Feather Factory!

We have purchased MANY of our electronics from G&G and have had great experiences each time. They provide terrific information - all their sales people are very knowledgeable. The prices are terrific.

Cooper Brothers made my custom sectional and ottoman. We are SO happy with them both - they are to die for!! They are so comfortable and look just beautiful in our family room. Thank you Cooper Bros for such great craftsmanship!!! Highly recommended...

I went to Wally Quan for information and advice on appliances when renovating my kitchen and looking for all new fridge, stove, oven, microwave, dishwasher. My parents had sourced all their new appliances from him too, so recommended him. Wally gave me HONEST info and steered me in a slightly different direction than the one I was headed in before meeting with him. I bought all of my appliances from him and now, a year and a half later, I'm still delighted with my decision and purchases. Delivery came when promised and the fellows were polite and prompt. I'm a very happy customer!

Lampert squeezed us in to investigate a leak in our ceiling right when we needed them. The plumber did his best to determine what caused the leak and though we never figured it out, it didn't happen again. They followed up afterward and were very friendly and accommodating throughout our experience with them. A plumber I can trust - what a find!!!

Our carport parking surface was made of big chunky gravel, so we wanted to have it paved. Ludwig was one of only two of the 10 or so paving companies we called that actually showed up. Others committed to coming, then wouldn't show (or they woudn't even return my call). When you have a smaller job, it seems most companies won't give you the time of day. Guess the recession isn't affecting everyone?? For our project, there was a slight mix-up on timing, but Ludwig's finished product was great - no complaints at all. The guys were quicker than lightning and the price was as estimated. Would recommend them for sure. Thanks!

After having a couple of night-and-day estimates done on the masonry/re-pointing work we needed done on our 100 year old house, we used Home Stars reviews to point us to a couple more contractors we could ask to come and give us their thoughts. Not sure what it was about Jim that made us feel INSTANTLY comfortable and like we were in the best hands possible, but there we were. He was not the cheapest, nor the most expensive. We knew nothing about what we really needed, so were suspicious that the "low-ballers" weren't going to do enough of the work that was actually required. My husband and I looked at each other after Jim left and agreed on the spot that he was "the one". Sounds almost romantic!! Truth is, we were still getting over a 6 month debacle of an interior reno with the contractor from hell. It was like Jim was too good to be true. He CLEARLY knew his stuff - took the time to explain everything to us, to give us his opinion when we asked for it and had options to choose from, and was honest and straight-up from the get go. It was an absolute no-brainer to ask him to go ahead with the work. We felt so great about him, that we asked if he could cost out doing some interior work we needed done as well (plaster removal, insulation and drywall install on one of the bedrooms in the house). He did, so we asked him to go ahead with that, too. The job began right when he said it would. Communication comes easily and naturally to Jim. Every step of the way he let us know what to expect, who to expect would be on site and when. The job officially started when his associate Blair came to wash our bricks. What a difference that made! Can't say enough about Blair's attention to detail, craftsmanship, integrity, and perseverance (we had some tough weather conditions for him to contend with). Fabulous. When Jim and his crew began work on the rest of the job (grinding down the existing mortar, replacing it with the PERFECTLY tinted new mortar, then starting on the bedroom), we rested easy knowing we were being extremely well taken care of. He and his team even took care to build scaffolding up against the outside wall of the house so he could carry the garbage etc. through the bedroom window, and not traipse it through the house. The plaster mess was minimal because he and the team took the time to clean up and put things back to how they were when they got there (OK, definitely BETTER than when they got there). Both projects were finished ON BUDGET and ON TIME!!! This, to me, is unheard of. Not only that, but the finished product - both masonry and drywall - was beautiful. Our house looks amazing. Jim is now on our speed dial. We have a few more projects we're looking to do in the near future and we've already asked Jim about them. If he can do it, we're hiring him. Period. We've referred him to two of our friends already and would shout his name from the rooftops if we weren't worried that he'd get too busy to help us with coming jobs! Frankly, we love Jim. We'd refer him without batting an eye. Thank you Jim and crew for restoring our faith in the possibility of good reno experiences.
