NRM from North Vancouver

We were having some issues with our 8 year old garage door openers - the courtesy light and motion sensor was not coming on and the doors were starting to make a lot of noise. I called around to a few vendors, and Megan was great at listening to the issues. What I really valued was that she didn't try to sell me on a service call, she made some suggestions that I could do myself to try and troubleshoot the issue. I tried this and it turns out that the circuit boards were malfunctioning, so we changed out both units (it is a 2 door garage). The service technician, David, was great, he worked quickly and knew his product and services really well. He installed two new units, tidied up the wall control units (the last installation 8 years ago looked like a dog's breakfast), adjusted the rollers so they are whisper quiet. When he finished up he showed me the various things I needed to know and went through them thoroughly. All in all a very positive experience.

We worked with Anthony and his crew at Good Home painting a few years ago to paint the exterior of our house, and can't recommend them highly enough for the fantastic work they did. They painted a fairly intricate and heavy stucco and trim, and their work on the foundational and finish coats was second to none. It still looks great after years of North Vancouver rain and sun. Anthony really knows his stuff when it comes to paint and materials, and has a keen eye for colour and setting up a project. His crew are professional, courteous, and hard working, so we had no issues with the project being done on time and on budget. Through the project Anthony was available and always visited the site to check on progress - it is rare to find an owner so invested in the success of every project under his contract, and so focused on making sure the customer was happy. In terms of value for money, quality work and customer satisfaction, I'd highly recommend Anthony and his team for painting projects. I wish we had known about his company before we painted the interior of our house, I think we'd have had an excellent experience there as well. Nari R-M

I came upon the HomeStars site looking for a recommendation for a company that could do dryer and furnace vent cleaning. I was impressed (and somewhat sceptical) at the ratings that Jason received for his work with DuctDudes. I couldn’t believe that all of his reviews were so glowing. Nevertheless, I thought I'd give him a try as I had a dryer vent that was not working efficiently, and the furnace needed a service as well. I can tell you that the reviews Jason receives are 100% on the mark. Jason is professional, courteous and extremely diligent and focused on getting his work done. The dryer vent problem turned out to be wet lint coupled with 2 x 90 degree turns before it got to the exhaust on the roof, which was extremely tricky to clean and rectify. What really impressed me about Jason was his never-give-up attitude, he was determined not to let this problem stump him and he worked for hours to clean out the offending material. He took the time to show me what was going on with the equipment he had and suggested a way forward so that it didn’t happen again. After the problem with the dryer the furnace vents were much more straightforward. I’ve worked with many trades and Jason is up there with the best of them. He is polite, is relentlessfly focused on getting the job done, and even makes a point of cleaning up afterwards, made more impressive because it was a Sunday and I know he wasn’t feeling well from earlier in the week. A note about the proper tools – Jason has the right set of equipment for doing this work, and more to the point, knows how to use it properly. His value for money is exceptional – my wife and mother in law (who lives with us) immediately noticed the marked improvement in the dryer operation.
