We were lucky to get Jason - the Chief Duct Dude - to come and clean the ducts in our little old (circa 1945) house. I'm not sure how long ago the ducts had been cleaned, but they really, really needed it.
Jason booked a day and a time - and on the day, apologized profusely when he was only a few minutes late! He was tidy, efficient, cheerful, and courteous. He was also very considerate of our cat, Asti, talking to her directly and making sure she wasn’t frightened. Asti, who isn’t scared easily, checked Jason out and thoroughly approved of him, then checked his equipment, after which she settled back at a safe distance to watch his duct-cleaning activities with great interest.
The system Jason used, a huge vacuum hooked into the furnace in combination with some energetic dust-disturbing probes to clean all the nooks and crannies of the ducts, was very effective. Jason explained everything so I knew what he was doing and why. I had a number of questions about replacing our old furnace and he gave me very sound advice and recommendations with no sales pitches of any sort.
The only hiccup was that for safety reasons Jason had to turn the gas-fired hot water heater off while the vacuum was operating and both of us forgot to turn it back on. Unfortunately, by the time I noticed the hot water wasn't hot, the pilot light had gone out and I couldn't restart it. Jason came right out the next day - a Sunday! - and restarted it for us. We are now enjoying a nice, warm, dustless house.
I happily recommend the Duct Dudes to anyone who needs their ducts cleaned!
