I moved into my condo 6 years ago and had those dreaded hanging blinds - I went with Budget Blinds after my sister in Edmonton recommended them. They came to my house for a free in-home consultation and had a nifty laser measuring tape. I had originally wanted wood, but the worker stated that this would be really heavy - I ended up getting a fake wood but it has a wood grain on it to make it look like wood - it came out perfect. I had a tricky spot where I have a sliding glass door and two same size windows beside them and you really need the blinds to match up - which they do perfectly! They're perfectly aligned. I'd recommend them to anyone - at least to get an in home consultation.

When I first moved into my condo, my bedroom was shiny crayola yellow, ceiling and walls. I used the Benjamin Moore Aura paint to cover this monstrosity over. We could have left it with one coat (seriously!!) but did do two coats because we had the time and paint. While expensive, I love Benjamin Moore because they keep track of my orders and colours so if I go in today, they'd know exactly what I purchased. Also, the Broadway location has a stylist/decor specialist who can help and make recommendations

Due to HomeStars being newer to British Columbia, they held a contest through a local blog for to win $500 for a project. I ended up winning! The main thing I wanted for my home was to refresh a paint job - I wanted my then brown feature wall in my living room painted a nice grey and my light green bedroom painted back to a refreshing white. HomeStars connected me with ProRise Painting and Restoration for this job and I couldn't have been happier with the work. Joseph came to my house to look at what the job entailed and give an estimate. He also was able to suggest some paint colours with the Benjamin Moore Aura line. When the day of the work came, the painter Alvin was professional and polite and got straight to work - what I appreciated was he wasn't coming in and out - all his gear came with him. He removed his shoes and his painting was clean and meticulous. Holes were patched and areas smoothed out. I had a great experience using ProRise and will definitely use them for future work both inside and outside of my home.
