A relative of mine recommended Carleton Environmental Services as company that would be able to inspect the sceptic system on a house that I was intending to purchase. They were on-time and they were able to identify some issues with the system (two of the “four” runs were blocked with roots and the tank itself had eroded down to the water line) but otherwise gave the septic system a passing grade. I have now purchased the house and I have hired a company to fix what the inspector recommended as the water was barely flowing out of the toilets when flushed. The company has found that all six runs are blocked full of roots need to be replaced which has tripled the cost of the repair. Carleton Environmental Services has completely absolved themselves of any responsibility for the issues that have now been found. I am disappointed with the situation.
- Approximate cost of services:
- $508.50
- What could this company do to improve their services?
- Justin could have mention that the inspection report was more or less their best guess at what potentially might be wrong and shouldn't be used to obtain an estimated cost to repair the system.
- Any advice to offer fellow homeowners facing a similar project?
- Have your septic system inspected by someone who installs them rather than a company that just pumps them. They might be able to give you a better idea of the potential areas of concern and how much these issues may cost.
