We added a gas insert inside an old wooding burning fireplace. We had limited space in height, and Ron was able to give us recommendations on which unit will work best for our needs. We didn't go to the store at all! Ron came to the house the same day we called and with the brochures and online information, we had all we needed. We went with the Marquis Capella since it fit and we were able to get the upgrades we wanted (rocks and clear view kit). In order to run a gas line to the unit, Ron recommended going from the outside to avoid causing damage to the newly finished walls. They also recommended getting our chimney cleaned before install so there wouldn't be any surprises when it comes to debris falling during installation. The installers were professional and efficient. I called in to the store to pay by credit card and 50% was taken before install, and the balance after install was completed. Ron even came by after the install to check on the work and make sure we were happy with everything. The only negative is that I needed to call in to the store to confirm the measurement of the unit (before install) in order to cut the cement board opening to the correct width and height. I'm glad I did since the original measurements given would have worked but would have left too much of a reveal that the tile would not cover. I would highly recommend Marsh's!!

The company was efficient and on time. We were cleaning the chimney to get it read for a gas insert installation. Cleaning took about an hour and most of it was done from inside the house. They left the place clean afterward. I was shown some areas inside the chimney where there are areas of crumbling brick but was assured that there would be no loss in integrity. There was a small amount of odour after from the soot but we were warned about it and it subsided after a few hours. Would definitely recommend their services!

Steven and his team are amazing! I found his info from HomeStars reviews, and viewed the website gallery. From the moment we talked over the phone, Steven understood our needs and timeline. His estimate was the best around. The attention to detail from the beginning was outstanding. We showed him an online picture of the mantle we liked and he confirmed measurements on site. We showed him the crown molding and baseboard trim we were going to install and he incorporated them into the mantle. We did not have the gas insert installed nor the tiling done on the surround. He gave us the exact dimensions for the cement board and recommended that we have the surround tiled and insert installed before installing the mantle. His advice to have the tiles done first saved us big $$ on the tiling since they didn't need to cut as much tile to fill in an already defined space. Also, there would be no damage to the mantle from grouting. Steven was on schedule with production (5 weeks) and installation. Installation took ~3.5 hours. A lot of work was done to make it fit perfectly since the walls in our 100 year old home are not true. We also had existing baseboards that they were able to merge with the base on the mantle to look like they were done at the same time. Our living room was as clean after as it was before they started. I would highly recommend Steven and his Black Forest team for any woodworking project. We have already started the plans for 2 more projects!

The painters were on-time, courteous, and did an amazing job! We had insulation blown into the outside walls which left 4-1" holes every 16" on the outside walls in the entire house. They sanded, filled, primed, and painted, and we can't see any history of the holes. They had originally estimated 4 days but were finished a day early. Even paint distribution, no streaks, great cut-ins by the mouldings, and smooth ceilings. Our only concern was that the clean-up was a little suspect. There was quite a bit of drywall dust on some furniture pieces that should have been covered, as well as the entire kitchen counter top had a thick coating of dust which took some time to clean. All said and done, the painting is what we paid for and we love the work. Definitely recommend them and would use them again.
