We asked a plumber to come over to fix a toilette that was leaking at the base - the plumber walked into the bathroom and then walked out in 1 minute and said we needed a new toilette because this was an "exotic" toilette (Porcher) and he could not work on it - he did not say you should get someone else to look at it, he just said we had to buy a new one and he gave us options that would cost $1000+. When asked that we would be happy to buy a new toilette if he could tell us what wrong with our toilette and confirm it was un-fixable, he said he would not touch it because there were 3 things wrong with the toilette - the shut off valve (he had already said he could fix it - it is a standard shut-off valve outside of the toillette), the interior flushing mechanism (it flushed fine- that was not the problem - and I had all the parts if there was a problem so I could fix that myself) and the leaking at the base that he would not even look at before giving the advice that the only option was to buy a new toilette. My 9 month pregnant wife was being pressured and given terrible advice - we have 2 other toilettes, so this was not an emergency. Spoke with a manger after and they said they don't work on "exotic" toilettes - that is fine, but that should have been what the plumber said, rather than that we had to buy a new toillete, and then making up other problems that were not problems to get the sale. Come on Mr Rooter - you should be better than this. We won't be back, and we have used them a bunch in the past. Have to be able to trust a plumber, and I don't trust Mr. Rooter to give good advice at this point. I trust they will give the advice that will generate the biggest sale, and at this point I have doubts about whether some of the other work they have done at our house was necessary. The next day I had another plumber come over - surprise - I didn't need a new toilette They fixed it in 45 minutes with no special parts. It was a simple fix
