We had A1 come in to remove two trees and stump last fall. Their price was good and they cut the two trees down quickly, cleaned up and stacked the wood. Initially I was happy with their work, until I noticed how poorly they stumped both trees in the spring. The front tree was stumped an inch below ground level and the back tree was pretty much just at ground level with a small amount of dirt covering the stump. I called A1 and sent him a picture. The owner Mathew, said he could stump it for $150, but I told him I already paid him to stump it and that's what I was left with. He agreed it should be stumped much deeper and he would have to get back to me. I called a week later to see when they could come, he said he would have to get back to me since they are very busy in another part of the city and not sure when they would be back in my area. I called multiple time in the next 3 weeks, most of the time whey screened my calls and would not answer. Only when I called from a different number, they would answer. I explained to them that I had plans for 2 weeks away for bobcat to clear the area where the stump was and needed it stumped. He told me he would come out on Tuesday or Wednesday. Both days passed and they never showed. So I call again and the excuses began. They said their stumper is broken, it may take a few weeks to fix (but I had a friend call and ask about stumping a tree and they said they could do it right away). He assured me he would be out to stump the tree before the Saturday when I was bobcatting the area. But of course they never showed. It is clear they never had the intention of coming back to finish the job properly. I would have rather them just say they were not coming back so I could make arrangements. Instead they wasted a lot of my time, money, and energy. I ended up paying another company that was on my street working this week to do it properly. When he looked at it, he shook his head, said the original stumping was a joke and I was ripped off. Do not use A1 Tree Service.
