Our project began several years ago, 3 residence in our cul de sac got together and mentioned that their existing cedar shake roofs were starting to show their age and were nearing their end of life. We decided to take a proactive approach and have our roofs replaced “before something happened at an awkward time of the year, such as fall or winter storms”. We got together early this year our neighbours decided that because of my construction back ground, I could contact roofing company’s and request quotes for our project, our intent was to have 1 contractor replace our cedar shakes with fiberglass laminate. My wife advised me that because I was the block watch captain of our cul de sac then, it would be a good idea to contact the other neighbours and see if they wanted their roofs done as well…from 3 it swelled to 7 interested parties. I did some research, contacted others in the construction trade for their input, and decided to request quotes from 4 company’s…after we received and reviewed the quotes only one company stood out from that list. The things that made Adanac shine above the others was that: -> Dan could provide any quality or style of roofing material of your choice-compared to another company that gave you a choice of 3. ->The flashing, gutters and downspouts could be replaced with any color of your choice, -> Dan was the only one who took the time to explain what was going to happen if and when we decided to replace our roofs, -> We did not have to pay him until the job was completed, -> Adanac also does gutters and downspouts so we did not have to contact another company for additional quotes which saved us time. -> Dan provided us with a copy of his Worksafe B.C. clearance letter and a copy of his insurance. -> All old flashings and roof vents were replaced with new and additional roof flashing was added to divert water into the gutters and not over the facia trim. On the initial site visit, Dan was nice enough to come by early on a Saturday morning. He met with all 7 of us, and explained the process of replacing our roofs, 3 weeks later 6 of us had finally decided to call him back to advise him to replace our roofs. As earlier described by Dan, 3 crews showed up on the first day and they got started on 3 different houses…it was quit the site, 3 blue bins sitting on 3 different driveways. When a crew was a day away from finishing a house, another house had the material delivered onto the roof and another bin showed up on the driveway, the guys just moved everything over to the next house. The crews were great to talk to, everyone was very polite, they continually cleaned up during the day and they left the site clean at the end of the evening. We did have some rain during this event, the crews made sure the roof was safe from leaks and we had no mishaps. During our construction project, every night our neighbours would check on the daily progress and then compare roofing style and colors-it was quite funny to see. By the time Adanac was done on our street, they had completed 9 homes. Kudos also goes out to the gutter installers, they were nice enough to remove the gutters and allow some of us a weekend to re paint all of the facia trim before they came back to re install the new gutters and down spouts. We miss the crews and the noise. Overall we had a wonderful experience with Dan and Adanac, in my opinion the project turned out better than expected and we would definitely recommend them for your roofing project.
