I had a deck that had direct sun exposure for about ¾ of the day and it was constructed on as a traditional deck using pressure treated. As a result of getting sun exposure the wood weathered very quickly. As a result I was tired of sanding and staining the deck every year. My deck was only about 250 sq feet but it was still big enough to cause me aggravation to maintain it every year. As a result I looked at various options of maintenance free decks, composite, rubber rock and stone. It was a very good learning experience learning about the pros and cons of all the products and the cost of each product versus one another. At the end of the day I felt that the stone option was the best option for me and my application. I was able to use my existing deck platform but it had to be reinforced to accommodate the extra weight. By using my existing deck I was able to do my part for the environment by nor contributing to more wasted to the land fill. The crew that attended explained to be the process of each step and were very professional and polite. They were prompt and always cleaned the site after each day of work. The finished product went beyond my expectations. It looks great and the best thing I will never have to sand and stain the deck again. Maintenance free !!! The good thing is that it will increase the resale value of my home when I sell it since it is maintenance free. My neighbour loves the look and he has made great comments on it.
