After replacing a control board and pressure switch, the technician said the problem (furnace shutting down after only a few seconds) was resolved and sent me quite a large bill, which I paid. Since this occurred in late spring, we did not use the furnace again until October, when we discovered the exact same problem. Our money was wasted. We called another company and they fixed the problem in an hour with no additional parts (there was an accumulation of dirt in an area of the furnace). I wont use Murray again and my confidence in their new owner, Shouldice, is also shaken.

I called to request assistance for an intermittent problem in my furnace. The receptionist was not interested in taking any particulars. The service person arrived on time and was pleasant enough, but he was unable to diagnose the problem. I had to call another company, where the receptionist recorded the symptoms and the service person arrived with the required replacement part in hand, fixing the problem in 5 minutes. My money with Carleton Refrigeration was wasted and my call to complain had no effect.

Thank you for taking the time to write a review regarding your recent experience with our service team. I have looked into this situation to determine exactly what happened in your case. On November 25th you called complaining that your furnace has an intermittent issue and as a result does not always ignite, and requested a service technician to visit your home. This was noted on the work order instructions to the technician. Our technician arrived at your home mid afternoon that date. Even though he spent an hour on site performing a very thorough investigation to determine the cause the furnace would not act up the way you had initially indicated. He instructed you that the next time it did not ignite you could obtain the error code that the computer would flash and then call us with that information, which would greatly assist in determining the problem. Apparently it ran for many days afterwards without issue. On Monday December 7th you called our office to inform us that it failed again on the weekend and that you called another company instead of calling us. If you had called us with the error code then we would have certainly been able to arrive on site with the replacement part that the code indicated, as the other company did. After reviewing all the information our customer service department called you back the very same day and left a message asking for you to return the call, however unfortunately you did not.
