Sam in Ottawa

I have been with Metro for over 2 seasons now and have stayed with them simply because I don't drive to work in the morning. Delays in clearing are understandable after major storms but in my area, Metro was generally the last to arrive by quite a bit of time. My driveway was cleared 90% of the time and only had to e-mail or call them 2 or 3 times to clear it. Calling or e-mailing them with your name and address does not garner a response from the company, which isn't the best customer service but the driveway was eventually cleared. I'd typically wait at the most 24hrs after a snow storm to have my driveway cleared. That's pretty bad considering my neighbours using Andy's would have their driveways cleared within hours following a storm. Metro could definitely use some improvement in service delivery and customer service. I probably should have signed with Andy's but I'm hoping enough people cancelled their renewals that my service with Metro will somehow become better this year? Wishful thinking, I know.

I've had a great experience with Red Flag Security thus far. Everything I was told over the phone is what I got with no catches or hidden charges or upsells from technicians. As I don't plan on getting a landline in the home I moved into, I chose the WiFi model but they also have a cellular model for an extra $10/mth due to the fees they have to pay for the cellular signal. I paid $175 for my package which compares to over $400 with other companies in Ottawa. I got the wifi communication unit & panel, 3 door/window contacts and 2 motion detectors.The upfront cost combined with the monthly fee of $18/month is still cheaper than almost every security company in the area, even those that provide the system for free with no upfront cost as they'll charge you over $35 month over 3 years but Red Flag Security only works out being ~$22-23/mth with the upfront cost of $175 for the WiFi model of the equipment factored in. I almost went with the Monitoring Centre with their $9.99/mth monitoring fee until I figured the total cost over 3 years for their internet based system would work out being over $30/month... glad I didn't. Anyway, aside from the being the best value in Ottawa, the service was phenomenal. Not one but TWO technicians came to my home to install the equipment and were professional throughout the whole process.
