Before reviewing this company I need to tell you a little history first. We wanted to replace the deck surface from deck wood to vinyl membrane and change the railings from top-mounted white aluminum to black side-mounted aluminum plus put in railings on two new sets of steps. When I first started this project this company was not listed on Google, otherwise I would have had Marten do the whole job. I got the vinyl membrane done within 3 months of looking for an installer, however finding a railing company that would actually show up and do the work took more than a year. After talking with 5 other companies that strung me along for a year, I did another Google search an Marten's company showed up. I called him and he actually answered the phone. He was busy right at that moment so he agreed to call me back later on that day, which he did. He agreed to come over a couple of days later to do an estimate (which he did). Unlike the first company that I talked with, Marten was able to give me the estimated cost before leaving my place on the same day. He explained that if I agreed with the price, I would pay 50% up front and the balance upon completion. He also told me that it would be a about a month before the railings would be installed...which was a better turnaround time than his competitors. His price was similar to the first quote that I got (where the company never came back to do the work) so I agreed and gave him the deposit. He phoned about 4 weeks later to start the installation - it was done over two days, and to say that we are happy is an understatement. My son who is anal and OCD is thrilled with the level of finish. This project was not an easy standard installation and may have been the reason that the other companies bailed. There was one stair railing that was manufactured incorrectly however I know that mistakes do happen and I believe the true character of a person is how the mistake is handled. Marten advised me as soon as he noticed the error and made arrangements with the manufacturer to have it redone. I was told that the replacement would take about a week, and today Marten was here to install the last railing. Marten comes from a family that been involved in the construction type industry so his knowledge is greater than his years. He is a man of his word and has a great attention for detail. I would and do recommend this Company for aluminum railings, glass railings, whether they are for stairs or decks. He also does vinyl deck membranes however we had already had ours installed before we hired Marten for the railings. I forgot to mention that he suggested changing the small railings at our front door and side stairs which I had not thought of doing, but I agreed to do those as well. I am so glad that he suggested that as our front railing went from wobbly to very secure not to mention that the updated look is very appealing.
