Last month I phoned 1-800-Got-Junk? to price removing 3 cubic yards of earth. Friendly & cheerful Jeff told me pricing would be confirmed on site - but so that I'd "know what to expect", he said 3 yards of earth, spread 1 foot high, would fill about 1/4 of the 8'x10'x4' truck bed, & should cost $158. He said a truck could be here within 2 hours, and urged me to book it immediately. He was very convincing. On arrival, however, the driver said the job would cost $338 - since earth was priced differently! After I explained that Jeff had clearly discussed EARTH, he offered to do the job for the $158 I'd been told. But when he phoned his Manager, the price flipped back to $338. Is this their alleged "Up Front Pricing": tell me one thing, then another, then another, then another? However, by that point I just wanted the earth gone; so, I agreed - but I'll never use Got-Junk again. As people say: 'Burn me once; shame on you. Burn me twice; shame on me.' A few days later, I phoned Customer Service to discuss their bait-&-switch routine. Friendly & cheerful Steve said he'd inform his Customer Experience Coordinator & someone would phone me "within 1 business day & get this thing resolved." Nobody phoned. 3 days later I phoned again, & spoke to friendly & cheerful Isabelle. She listened, put me on 'hold', & then returned to say her Coordinator was away from her desk, but would DEFINITELY phone me before the end of the day. Nobody phoned. Since EVERY SINGLE THING I WAS TOLD ON THE PHONE WAS WRONG, are Got-Junk's employees incompetent - or are they . . .? Did someone at Got-Junk remember Shakespeare's line, "One may smile & smile & be a villain", and paraphrase it to 'Kill 'em with kindness, but jack up the price at the door'? Whatever the case, I stopped phoning Got-Junk. Instead, I warned my friends - & now I'm warning you.
